So I work(ed) at a zoo on an island somewhere in the middle of the ocean that's technically part of the United States. I'll let you guess what that means. The zoo is run by the state, and the zookeeper are paid by the state. Us peons in the gift shop are paid by the “friends of the zoo”, or the zoo board. The nonprofit that is supposed to help the zoo. The animals are literally drinking non-pottable water, as it is called. Thats…not fine? At all? So here's the thing. We got a new zoo director 4 months ago. She, like I, used to work for Disney. She immediately tried to rectify the water situation. Then in October, parks and rec rented…

I have a good relationship with them because I worked with one of them previously, and work closely with all of them every day. They entered the new clean room for the first time yesterday, and indeed they are not happy. The manager’s explanation to me was a scenario in which the outside service that certifies the clean room quarterly did something wrong or damaged something, we would now have proof to hold them accountable. Ok, why not be upfront with the assemblers then? Aren’t they pretty much guaranteed to be more pissed off finding out this way? Then…
i came into my shift on a wednesday and got the news as soon as i walked in, when i told my manager my coworker was near and hugged me and i started to cry. my former manager says “when is your next shift?” i said “sunday” she goes “oh okay youll be fine by then” sure water under the bridge, anyway i come in and im doing alright for the most part until she starts asking me detailed questions about my best friend and her passing so i obviously become emotional. She begins to tell me how it would be embarrassing for her if i worked that day and i “cant even keep myself together” so she sends me home. A couple days later she calls me and fires me. i called her an insensitive bitch and hung up.
