Without giving too many details away, I started noticing my Dell laptop making a disconnect sound when I left my chair. I am not touching the desk, any cable, have checked all connections, and am on a cement slab, so I'm not moving the computer at all. I tried kneeling with the same motion after moving the chair – no sound. I tried a coworker's chair – no sound. This was my personal chair which was a very nice gaming chair (about 7 years old), so I would be appalled if this was tampered with. I started my first day at a job where we sign up in shifts. It has been a few days and the person I am supposed to email to sign up for my next shift hasn’t contacted me back, should I assume they don’t want me working there anymore?
mentally divorced my job
Background: in the most USian situation ever, I got a second job to pay my hospital bills because my teacher salary wasn't enough. I work part time at a tutoring place. My side job recently changed hands. They casually mentioned that we needed to bring our laptops in for work. I told my boss I don't have a laptop. She asked me to use my public school provided laptop. I said I was uncomfortable misusing school resources to subsidize their profits. If my computer is damaged at tutoring place, I am financially responsible. I have this thing where I mentally divorce myself from something. And this unethical computer thing is not something I can get past. Now there is nothing they can do right and I can't stand the sight of them (it). Since I mentally divorced myself from this job, do I quit? I don't have a second side…
My husband's job did have him working 12hours, 2 days on, 2 days off, 3 days on, then 2 days off, 2 days on, 3 days off, and repeat. He put in vacation for our honeymoon 2 months ago when his schedule would have only called for 2 days off. They have now swapped him to working 4 12s every week and say they can no longer allow him the time off he requested because it's too many days in a row, since now he would have to take 4 days off. I'm just so disgusted.
Hooray for obvious favoritism
Well I just need to vent cause I'm very frustrated right now. I've dealt with alot of crap at my first job. Harassment both sexual and non. Sabotage of my line. People throwing away my paperwork on me so I had to redo it. Stealing my lunch, pens and headphones. I mean pretty much everything you can think of. I mean if I still had my former natural haircolor of blonde, they'd probably harrass me for it to. But I thought there was finally a glimmer of hope today. As retaliation I lost my job
Long story short, I worked for this sports camps company. I had complained that my SSN was not being used in my paystubs. I was informed that it would be changed & updated. Time passed and nothing changed. When I asked for them again, I was let go. They tried to make me sign a severance but I didn’t. I have no proof of employment for the last year. I’ve called the ssn office, unemployment office and IRS. The company did not use my correct ssn, I can’t get benefits. Life’s been hard and I needed to vent – thank you.
Everyone and their mother has had a tone deaf boss. When they're so oblivious to how what they're doing/saying actually lands with their employees that you can hardly believe anyone could be so obtuse. So I'm at work the other day, shit talking with my favorite coworker as usual, when he tells me “I overheard BossMan talking about how he's thinking of giving us off for the day after Thanksgiving this year, that'd be cool.” I agree with him, it sure would be, but I doubt it because they're pretty stingy with the holidays they do give, and I have literally been told by BossMan that the owner complains about paying us on any holidays at all. But, much to my surprise later that day we receive a company wide email saying we have both Thanksgiving day AND the day after off! Sweet! But, wait, huh? “…you will be off…
