I'm a middle manager, and I work for a decent sized company. I often tell my employees about this sub and encourage them all to join it. I do everything to be the kind of management my team deserves. I also hate my corporate overlords with a burning passion as I watch them wreck the company I've worked really hard to help keep afloat, in an industry I am extremely passionate about. To preface, they told me I was going to need to sign an NDA when our new CEO took over. But my direct report has repeatedly failed to give me anything to sign. So I haven't. Now, I've started receiving phone calls and emails from vendors saying they've been trying to get a hold of our accounting department for months, and we are being sent to collections. My industry is very small, and we have a sub here…
For me, I never volunteer for tasks, always overestimate the time it takes to complete the tasks and over exaggerate the work i actually do Surprisingly this has worked well for me the past few months and my manager has praised my ability to deliver
Furniture from Vietnam
I work for a large company and a new position became available not too long ago, it was better pay and less physical. I have worked for this company for over 5 years, I have always gone above and beyond for this company, never miss a day and even work on my days off when I’m needed, a lot of times I am the last one there until we close. The position became available and I instantly inquired about it and my boss told me I’d be a great fit, had my interview on the same day. A lot other people were also interested. Two days later I am called into the office and my boss tells me they have chosen another candidate blah blah blah… the person that got this job always comes in and works their 8 hours and goes home not caring if everyone else finishes or…
Turn it back around on them
When someone says a person is “entitled” because they need a living wage, tell them it’s corporations who feel entitled to record profits by underpaying workers. If they say someone feels “entitled” to a job for wanting a union, remind them that corporations are feeling entitled to keep employees in the dark about competitive wages and benefits. When someone complains about the “talent deficit,” remind them that if corporations were paying their fair share of taxes, schools could be improved. I could go on; I’m sure you have examples of conversations you’ve been in where this was effective.
Side hustle mind set ruins hobbies.
I keep seeing my SO run into the same loop for all their hobbies. Finds fun activity Likes it enough to be a true hobby Tries to monetize the hobby Loses interest because it stresses them out as it turns into a lot of work. Drops hobby It’s sad to see it keep happening the same way over and over again. I try to convince them it should just be fun but the, “yea but it could be fun and make money” argument always comes up. Why does everything always boil down to money. Like fuck me, I just wanna have fun and see people around me have fun separately from their financial position.
