So yeah, this is gonna sound weird but I'm currently studying hospital administration and i use this sub reddit to note down what not to do when i become a manager, it's a great source of practical knowledge and information and i have even managed to make some presentations based on what's posted in here and received praise for them I recommend it to my classmates although they don't seem that interested Knowing what not to do is very useful and i will continue to follow stories posted in here Such knowledge usually only comes from practical knowledge and i appreciate the fact that i can get it even before i start my career This might be an usual resource to use but it is definitely enlightening I feel bad for never posting anything myself but i do appreciate the information Just thought i would let you guys know that…
I’ll keep it short, my brother and I were hired at the same company. I’m in customer service and he’s in IT. I’m 18 and in my first year of college and he’s 22, a fresh graduate. I work from 8-5 everyday and my day off changes every week. I haven’t had a day off in 8 days so far and it’s not until Friday that I get to rest. This is my first job and I pretty much got a warning today stating that if I got caught on my phone again they’d fire me. I’ve been training to be a call center agent for a few weeks now but the work I do is always done in the first 2 hours so I always use my phone afterwards until it’s time to go home. Well, my boss didn’t like that and threatened to fire me. I nearly fell…
Recruiters are aggressive
I've been job hunting and the recruiters that call me, especially ones that are through an employment agency the employer has obviously reached out to, are aggressive as hell. I had one young woman call me who was literally interrogating me like I had committed a crime and spoke of this entry level position like I'd need to hand over my first born to get it. I was getting very impatient at the end. Who thinks this actually works???
How do you work with awful people?
I’m a metrologist (fixes chemical instruments) for a pharmaceutical company. I do most general repairs needed across my site but if a rare part breaks, I end up calling a vendor to come out and fix the repair. My problem with my job is the vendors. Most of the vendors are older males that will treat me different from my male coworker. If I walk in and politely ask them to put on the proper PPE required to be in my labs, they always talk back or give me a really stupid excuse to why they can’t wear lab glasses. If I send in my male coworker, they will immediately listen to him and not push back. There has been multiple times where I get “never see a woman in this position.” Another thing that routinely happens is having push back on a repair I know is needed or they…
I work a job where I only make 11 an hour, get no free breaks, have no benefits of any kind, and I asked to work 35 hours a week and now they’re having me work only 14 a week. How can people make a living off of this?
Salary? Hourly? You’re both!
I just need to vent a bit. I love my job. I help people. In most ways, my company is excellent. But. They have this recurring issue where they want to treat us as both salary and hourly. We're expected to be in the office 8 hours. But we also have obligations to continue working longer if necessary to get the work done. Bc we're salary. And professionals. This past spring hours had become an issue because the Director came down to check in and no one was in the office in our department. Now, we all work from home 2 days a week and have very flexible PTO. So we were told we needed to be there either 830 to 430 or 9 to 5. Okay. That's annoying cuz again, SALARY. But whatever. Last week the Director came down at 830 and only one or two people were there.…
Hey; for people who work in sales, how many of you get to work out your two week notice and how many are walked to the door when you turn your notice in?
Question for people who work from home?
How many work from home jobs have you had and what was your experience with each one? Also, how much supervision did you have or mandatory check in meetings?
