Think this is a root cause.
We have a fast paced environment
Long story short, I quit working as a research assistant because the grad student I worked for was extremely unorganized and overworked herself so felt it was justifiable to do the same to me. I never got a schedule, was just told the night before (at like 7-10pm) or the morning of that I’d be working (was never told how many hours just when to come in). Often got tricked into 12 hour days because of this. Basically she didn’t see me as a person with a life and didn’t respect my time. There’s more but I won’t get into it. I quit last month because of those reasons and more and offered to do this specific measurement a final time if she needed. She never confirmed so I didn’t do it and left the state to see my family. Came back last week, got a message this morning asking…
We’re way past that!
If no one works who will?
Genuine question. If no one wants to work, who is going to do the remedial jobs needed to keep society functioning? I understand the WANT to watch anime all day, but who will come unclog your sink when they don't have to? Who will harvest ze bugz for you to eat? Money is an exchange of value. If you provide no value, why should you have money? I think antiwork should advocate for Futurama-style suicide booths. If you don't want to participate and contribute to society, you should be free to check out.
I ask this only because the only big thing we've managed to do lately is push up a fake post about a Starbucks and then a post on quityourbs when users here called them out. Other than that it's been just general text karma farms, bad bosses, general rants. The most common help is basically legal help which is great and all but for a sub that constantly talks about changing work for the better and being tired of their shite jobs have we started to do anything big in the ways of organizing anything? Not hating just wondering.
