Abusive CEO – if outed on Glassdoor, am I really anonymous?

I work for a fairly small company (less than 250 people altogether) and we have a mandatory company wide morning meeting every day. Almost monthly, the CEO will get angry at someone for something. Literally shouting fucking this fucking that in the meeting with everybody in it. He makes 'jokes'about firing people etc. Management below him always end up privately apologising for his behaviour. If I left a honest Glassdoor review mentioning the hostile work environment created by the CEO, could this be traced back to me in any way? I've read about companies contacting glassdoor claiming deformation (unsure if that's the right word for it!) and getting the information from Glassdoor. I've never been in the spotlight and they would have no reason to suspect it was me leaving a review. I am just sick of him behaving like an asshole ever so often and everybody having to just…

My girlfriend has consistently been scammed by AT&T retailer

As the title says, my girlfriend started working at AT&T retail shop (actually company is called Comsol) about a month and a half ago. There were red flags as soon as she started the job, because the Indeed listing stated that they would make $14/hr, but as soon as she started training she found out that she actually would be getting paid minimum wage OR an uncapped amount of commissions (which is its own level of bullshit). However, she stuck with it because everyone was promising her she’d make good money with commissions, as well as the allure of the $1000 training bonus. Well, fast forward 80 hours of training at minimum wage and she still has yet to even come close to the training bonus. In order to get the $1000, you have to pass tests known as Core Competencies, which take hours at a time to complete. You…

Would you quit your job if your company did this?

Need some advice here as to what I am supposed to do if you were in my position. Background: I work in a high cost of living area where my company offers employee housing. I work in HR as a recruiter since March. I have an apartment here instead of employee housing. I am overqualified for the job. I am the lowest paid employee at the resort. After posting hundreds of jobs for this resort, I found one that I was qualified for and applied internally. I source applicants for the job and they picked somebody else who doesn’t even work here. I can’t afford to live here with what they pay me. the company now knows this and gave me 2 fifty dollar visa gift card and said go eat some meals. I told them I had been skipping meals for this job. More than half of what they…

I wasted a full day interviewing somewhere only to be told they have enough people with my expertise.

I work in a technical medical field that doesn't have a lot of direct patient contact. I'm currently in the job market because the hospital I work at i downsizing our department. I have a lot of expertise in my field and the market is very hot right now. And I also happen to make really good money doing what I do. I've had a number of interviews with hospitals in other states and things have gone well but I don't really want to move because interest rates are high and I like where I live a lot. So when there was an opening at an academic hospital in my region I naturally decided to apply. They took their time getting back to me as I knew they would but were interested in interviewing me. “Great!,” I thought. I interview well and am generally a really likeable person plus I…

Is it just a matter of semantics?

Hey, European here. I apologize for the rant, just bear with me for a couple of minutes. Since I have a feeling I'm not the only one on this subreddit, I have been thinking that we Europeans (everyone else is invited to join in if they feel like it!) should start addressing more the fact that most of the times, when our friends from the US talk about “work benefits” they are actually talking about worker's rights. We should state more clearly that paid leave, healthcare and unlimited sick days (with free doc certificate because universal healthcare duh) at the very least, are RIGHTS, not benefits. I know many people from US have got used their whole lives to use the term “benefit” when it comes to such things, but words are power guys. There's an Italian saying (that comes from the Bible) that goes like this (rough translation): more…

Boss hired me because of my design portfolio. 6 months later wrote me instructions how to resize an image.

Got hired 6 months ago as a marketing assistant. Job requirements was a design degree and a portfolio. I have a biology degree , but also a pretty descent graphic design portfolio. These past 6 months I’ve created flyers , brochure covers , edited catalogs. All with Photoshop , Indesign and Illustrator. Lately my boss has been micromanaging like crazy. Wrote me instructions how to resize an image into a square , expected me to resize 300 images into squares one by one. My boss was unaware that photoshop has an automation feature that will do all that for you at one time. My marketing team is a joke and JUST started using adobe projects like 3 years ago. They’re all close to retiring. Everything created by our team looks like it’s from 2002. They download illustrator templates from shutter stock for their brochures, even though we’re a million dollar…
