It was fun while it lasted
For almost the past 4 years I've been self employed as a independent contractor (in construction which I have 15+ years experience). Next week I start working for another big company. I started my own small business because I was tired of being overworked and underpaid. Every company I worked for would hire me in a position I was overqualified for with promise of my desired position and pay being available soon (desired position is foreman/job lead, a salary office position is negotiable) .They say soon but really they have know idea when. Ultimately this just leads to me doing grunt work then management treats me like the fall guy anytime someone calls in because Im qualified. Essentially being paid $17.50 hr to do a job that's $25 hr. Sometimes I'd refuse without better pay but other times it'd result in me doing the task the harder way, pigeonholing me…
Basically one of the most famous law firms in Brazil has jumped from the 7th floor due to the associates putting a lot of pressure on him and making impossible deadlines. Was talking with someone who worked at this store for 3 years and hasn't gotten a raise. He makes $13/h. I also learned that Coaches makes a 26k bonus every year. That's 2k more than Cap 2 yearly salary. Cap 2 is backroom work. Unloading trucks, sorting hundreds of pieces of inventory for departments. Phyical work. And our Team Leads make 21/h plus a 6k bonus every year. While we make 24k… a year. My coworker looked surprised when I advocated violence toward the Walton family, the owners of walmart. What are we supposed to do? Sign a petition? How the hell do you get a raise?? Wtf is going on? I think that would make most think they need to move up in the company, but… I feel repulsed. These lazy ass coaches are making an ungodly amount money for what? Honestly. As far as I can see, they're…
