Just got told a few days ago I have to attend a mandatory (30 FUCKING MINUTE) training / meeting. I live an hour away and I work graveyard shift. Told my boss I wasn't going to be able to make it. I wouldn't come to that shit anyway. I live an hour away. Fuck that. I hope they fire me. 🤞 wish me luck! Lol
Fired after two weeks
I got suspended and fired for leaving early due to nearly having a panic attack, but only asked a co-worker not a manager. It was my mistake, but that seems very, very harsh. I’ve had no other problems the whole time I was there. That is all.
Bullshit jobs and bullshit companies
I’ve found a lot of people (typically in management roles) on LinkedIn with confusing titles containing “innovation”, “strategy”, “sustainability”, what do they really do? Personally I think these jobs are non-productive and ridiculous, but why do the board spend money on jobs like these? Here’s a case study: https://www.linkedin.com/in/ariannahuffington She’s the “founder and CEO” (another often seen self proclaiming title) of a company that sells mental well-beings to employees of other companies, like seriously who in their right mind would buy this shit?
Hire to fire should be made illegal
Why is this still happening? Amazon, especially, is very very bad with this. I have heard too many stories from friends and the internet in which people accept an Amazon position out of desperation to work, and they are given part-time hours and fired after a few months. This is obviously a tactic for employers to avoid handing out benefits, and when a company like Amazon is the only place to work in a town they begin a cycle of unemployment. I understand smaller businesses may see a rush around the holiday season and hire people knowing they are going to be laid off, but this is just too economically irresponsible and inhumane for mega corporations to be participating. Just to add more to the Amazon example – they also immediately shut down plans to unionize which shows zero intent to stop this hire-to-fire practice.
I vented to two coworkers
I vented to two separate coworkers in different situations about something thats going on at work. Somehow it got back to my manager. Do I ask them if they said anything? What do I do?
My boss over the past year has been constantly reassuring us that there will be no layoffs. Its nice but nobody's really asking about it we know the risk. It's as if they go out of their way to reassure us everytime something new happens lately and it's got me thinking….do y'all think a layoff might actually be right around the corner? It just feels weird…
