Hi /antiwork, I'm looking to get feedback for the next steps on these two situations. For some background, I work for a small-medium-sized business. ​ On the night of 10/31/22, I got an e-mail (after 9pm) for a calendar invite three days in advance titled “Check In”. HR had scheduled 8 back-to-back meetings for that day and hid them as “busy” on google calendars to several folks at the company, which usually his meetings are not private. I am going into the meeting tomorrow and want to see how I should prepare or think/act during this meeting. For my second situation, I have “some” evidence (call it screenshots) of the last two months going through what we call in legal terms “constructive dismissal”. On my break as I'm writing this, my job is seriously annoying the hell out of me. They sent home my coworker who I was working with because we were having a conversation while we worked. Don't get me wrong, I'd get it if we were both being completely inefficient and not doing anything, but we were doing more than the whole damn kitchen staff was doing other than us.

I work at and live at an apartment complex as one of two maintenance techs, plus the manager. My current issue is I am the only one of 3 employees who pays any portion of rent now, part of the job is to live on site for emergencies and rent is compensated 100%. And this only started recently when I transferred from a 1 bedroom to a 2 bedroom because my fiancée was moving in with me. The only way the owner of the property would approve the transfer was if I paid the difference between the two apartments. Now it really isnt a bad deal, especially for how much rent is, I know there are soooo many others struggling to pay the bullshit rent prices. In 2004, after I graduated from college, I was recruited by an employment firm that sought to recruit applicants for jobs in the legal profession. I was recruited by the firm to interview with a paralegal company seeking an employee with experience putting together legal documents. Sorry, but I don't remember the job description entirely. The job required the successful applicant to have a bachelor's degree. I interviewed for the position and did very well in my first interview. A week later, I was invited back to the office what I thought was going to be my finalist interview. It turned out to be an opportunity for the job to being offered to me by the owner of the company, but at a much reduced salary offer of $20,000 per year. The employment firm that recruited me said the starting salary range was supposed to be between $35,000 – $38,000…

I’m not sure if I was simply dealt an unfortunate card when it came to locations, but I’ll give a quick synopsis nonetheless. The manager was my first red flag, iv never in my life had someone treat me so incompetently, disrespectfully, and so beyond unprofessional like I’m still confused to this moment about my treatment at this location. She (full 8 hour shift) would tell me very basic things like “what were not gonna do is play with bubbles in the sink all day” when I had over flowed the sink and was scooping wash water and bubbles into the rinse drain or “don’t just stand their, you have to be busy and there’s things to go do” when it was my 2nd day and I got overwhelmed by a Saturday rush and no one was really training me but just telling me things and expecting me to understand…

I just need to rant for a second because I’m incredibly frustrated. I was employed by a small law firm (only 2 employees) until last month. At the time that I accepted the position, I had severe vertigo almost daily and was having multiple fainting episodes. I made certain that my employer was aware of this in case something happened to me at work. I missed quite a bit of work in my first year, and last October it was discussed in my annual review. This was the first time it was discussed how much work I had missed, almost all due to an unknown medical issue that my employer was aware of. Walked out today. Recruiter called me for an interview at 11am, went there, I see 30 people in the room. Sat down, was told by front desk that I only had 3 people ahead of me until I am interviewed. I was like oh well, kept waiting, on my phone. 12pm and nothing, they keep calling other names. I told them I am leaving, bye. Did I miss anything? I don't feel it's reasonable to wait over an hour.

First time poster — loooooooong time lurker. full disclosure, this is me asking if i'm legally allowed to be petty. I got a NEW job offer and signed, and feeling excited to leave my job and was fully planning on quitting, no two weeks notice, on friday. (the reason for no two weeks, is my gut is telling me that they would not let me work out the rest of my shifts and cut my schedule anyway). They just messaged me asking to review my performance(huge chance i could get fired). For unemployment in CA, i have to get fired to get unemployment? what if they follow my instagram and i post that i already had a job offer lined up, blah blah blah, so the jokes on them? would that count or exclude me legally from unemployment after they fired me? i can't believe how toxic this place is,…
