Hello, I am facing an impasse regarding a job I have had for almost 4 months. For the context, I am a business analyst in France, my trial period ends on Friday, my employer has already told me that he wants to make me permanent. But on my side, I can resign with a 48h notice until Friday. I resigned from my fixed-term job for the one I have now. And my mental health has been deteriorating ever since. We are constantly understaffed, 6 people short, but the sales people keep selling studies. We're supposed to be paired up, but I'm rarely paired up since I've been at this company, for obvious reasons of understaffing. I like the tasks I'm given, it's what I was looking for in terms of assignments and I'm 100% telecommuting. But the pressure is more and more unbearable, I am working overtime without pay to…
Grocery Store Wage Theft
This may not be exactly the right subreddit to go to for this so I apologize if it’s not. I work at a family grocery store wherein both the HR rep during orientation and the supervisors/managers tell everyone that they have to clock out for all of their 15 minute breaks no matter what. This is of course in violation of US labor laws. They also have the nerve to frame it as though we would be committing wage theft if we didn’t clock out for them and that they would punish us if they found us doing it. They also tell us not to talk about wages with anybody (which is why I talk about it with everybody.) i don’t know that they pundits people for doing so but I know they discourage it. I would like to do something about this, but I’m unsure of exactly where to…
Funny , employers have been doing this for years. article
My husband has had a semi toxic work environment for a number of years. Especially so after his previous boss moved away from the company and new boss started. New boss is an asshole and doesn’t appear to like my husband. The company they work for is in multiple states and hubby and boss are in different states. Hubby has carried his location’s department since the location opened, almost a decade ago. Hubby had a leadership role and managed several others in the department. Boss did away with this and made himself the sole person in charge, hubby was given a new title without a dock in pay. Hubby made a mistake a year ago, nothing major and was corrected. Boss wrote him up. Last week some shit blew up. Hubby received an email while on vacation. Automatic out of office reply went through. Another person in the department verbally…
Hey guys, Im a contract worker thru an agency and I’ve worked with several, but decided to pick something small this time for more money. At work, I will get called in last second and I forget to clock in sometimes. I’m able to manually clock in and my manager signs off. It’s not a big deal around here. The agency sent me an email last week about fraudulent punch ins. 6 days total, and they claimed they spoke to my manager and he denied I worked those days and they were going to pursue charges against me. They sent me a very intimidating email claiming I was stealing from the company and they withheld my paycheck until I could confirm the hours. I spoke to my manager and he said nobody ever asked him about it and he called them and sent over the timesheets. They never apologized and…
injured on the job. need advice
I injured my back on a manual labor type job. I have documentation of the injury through medical records and workman's comp claim. I was blocked by management when I tried to attend PT and most doctors appointments. I reported most of this to HR and documented almost everytime it happened. 16 months later. I find out that my injury is what is causing significant problems to the nerves in my legs. I am very below the poverty line and fairly uneducated. I have never seeked a lawyer out in my life and need to know if I have a case.
She's pretty high up there. Her reason for hating unions is that workers don't work over time. “The moment the clock hits five people punch out”.. As they should! I work exactly until five. I don't slowly walk out before five. I walk out at five. As I should. I am paid to do work from nine to five. If a worker is slacking off at four thirty fine. Be mad. but nope. If you want over time pay me or gtfo
I put in a time off request for the week of thanksgiving last month so I could visit family in another state, just to see that it was denied. Surprised and thinking it was an error of some sort. I give my district manager a call to see what’s up with my request being denied. Turns out, for the rest of this year. We aren’t allowed to take any more days off because of the “holiday demand”. I’ll mention now that I’m an Account Sales rep in the retail industry. And mind you, sales and revenue have actually been on the decline in the past month or two as rising inflation and stagnating wages are finally getting people to cut spending. Another odd thing is, I was working as a cashier at a grocery store last year and had no issues getting time off. So I can’t even say this…
