What the hell has this world come to?
6 of my friends (18-19 years old) are working 17 hour days. AND THEYRE PROUD OF IT?! Thats so wrong.
Need some help finding article
Sorry if this isn't allowed, I'm sure the mods will remove if so. I need some help finding this article or video about wage theft. The example took a man building bicycles and selling them for profit. He then hired another person and it explained how he took a cut of their labour and paid them a small portion from the profit and so on and so forth… I've looked though YouTube and Google but no luck. I'm 99% sure it was posted here a while back. Thank you.
What I found on the printer
I work as a clinical scientist at a small biotechnology company. Which means I design and help run clinical drug trials for new medicines. It pays well, can’t lie about that. I did do a PhD and have over 10 years experience though. Our small company went public last year so we were given shares. Yeah for me! Last week I found the chief operation officers share package on the printer. 1 million shares.! I got 10, 000 and was made to feel like I was being done a favour to receive them. The management didn’t put up any of their own cash and they still drew an excellent salary before we went public. No major sacrifices that I noticed. God damn it. The team actually doing the work to get our drug to market is being paid nothing compared to the boy’s club running our company. It makes me…
Hey guys, I hope this is the right subreddit for this thread. I'm looking for ideas to minimize my time that will be stolen by some corporation so i can do something 'adventurous', serving a cause, etc. I am asking you guys about what u think and what u suggest as a solution, I already made an engagement to reduce my spending on extra stuff so as to be pretty minimalist, to not support the big machine, and to pay less taxes. Excuse for my English! Not a native
Hello, A few days ago, I discussed with a friend whether pomodoro breaks should be included in the working hours. I disagree because I find myself more productive when taking breaks, so I do a better job. I usually work work 50 minutes with 10 minute breaks, so in 8 hours, there are 80 minutes for breaks (approx 1 hour and 20 minutes). What's your opinion about this? LE: a bit of context: I am currently working with a colleague that only takes lunch breaks for 30 minutes. We are working together, so there are times he can't work without me, and vice-versa. At the end of the day, I feel exhausted and can't do anything for myself. On Saturday I needed more than half a day just to start thinking again. I'm just like a plant. That's why I try to implement the pomodoro, at least for me,…
I just quit my new job after 2 months.
Some quick context: I left my career in healthcare that I had been in for 22 years, to pursue more money in a private manufacturing business that paid approximately $7K NZD more. I loved my government healthcare job, but I wanted to experience something different (or so I thought) in a totally different field of work. All I saw were the dollar signs that were presented to me. Fast forward 2 months and the first month in, I knew I made a major mistake. The acting team leader was extremely rude and arrogant and hated teaching new people the complex manufacturing machinery. I wasn’t given any guidance and training for 6 weeks, I was basically thrown into the deep end with zero training. Over the last 2 months there’s been a multitude of incompetencies that I picked up on, with the main problem being – I was never shown on…
Vacation Time?
So I got a job offer, starting off between $20-25 an hour. They will give me 2 hours of PTO every pay period. But as far as paid vacation only once I hit one year with a company and it will be 2 weeks paid vacation? Is it something normal or illegal ? I am currently in Hawaii. Thank you for your time.
So I took this job for an environmental service type job….as a project manager in INDIANA I'm curious about the legality of their training I ignored a few red flags taking it but I did it to get off night shift etc. During your first ninty days though your have 7 on call weeks which means 24/7 really but you can “sleep between calls/note updates which they “need every hour” My question is can I do anything being that this is a salary position etc. When me and the other guy who started with both shared a look one the dude training us was like it's not hazing etc. And he can fall asleep in 5 minutes now blah blah but then other people working with us are just telling us this other stuff I'm curious. I am continuing to apply for other jobs anyway etc, I don't stop always…
