TL;DR: RealPage Inc created a program that tells landlords what to charge for apartments, based on non-public pricing information from other landlords. It also encourages them to reduce supply. Over 20 million rental units are implicated by this anti-trust lawsuit. The software covered 19.7 million rental units in 2020, but they've been growing rapidly, so it's well over 20 million rental units by this point – all of which now have tenants that might be eligible for class action damages. https://news.bloomberglaw.com/esg/realpage-major-landlords-face-antitrust-lawsuit-over-rent-spike https://www.propublica.org/article/yieldstar-rent-increase-realpage-rent
The gig Economy markets itself with positive PR about being flexible, convenient, modern, ability to be one’s own boss, etc. But in truth, the gig economy serves to strip away the last meager bit of employee protections and “benefits” employers used to provide, and it helps to insulate corporate responsibility and liability if everyone is purportedly an “independent contractor”. Eliminating pensions, 401ks, health insurance, etc., from the payroll serves to increase corporate profits.
Uber New Zealand Employment Court Case
Bro scammed her
$0 tax….again
Never say you're gonna quit or leave, never give a notice, the amount of ppl I see here mentioning they gave a notice is staggering, correct me if I am wrong but there is no law anywhere in North America mandating one to disclose to their management that they are leaving. Keep it a secret, just leave and give no news. You owe nothing to these folks. In some places they will have to fire you and pay you that 2 weeks anyway. Makes no sense to me that you would warn them. Do they warn you 2 weeks in advance when they want to get rid of you? The only instance where I would do that is if those people have been genuinely nice to me, but genuine, nice and work these days don't mix well together.
He also refused to give me a certificate of employment and pay the proper rate for all the hours I worked and pretended he doesn’t know anything about employment law. The exploitation of foreign worker in the restaurant industry is rampant.
Awful Interview Processes
What a waste of time. You’re telling me we need to talk to 6+ people to make a decision on someone? It’s so pathetic. I had one recently where they didn’t even have the courtesy to stack/consolidate the interviews. One interview or more per day for 4 consecutive days. Remote work has enabled some real bullshit. What is an awful interview process you went through?
Why are wages in France low?
Currently an HVAC tech here in AB, Canada. My cousin lives in France and I was planning on moving there but the median hourly income for people in my field is CN$22/hour… How can people survive on this income? I make $45/hour currently and get offers of $55-$60/hour every few months from different companies here in Canada. Even cost of living is not that much lower, fuel is even more expensive.
