Mine is when I was a freshman and suddenly realized that this man was on vacation while I was standing for 6.5 hours after school for minimum wage. I just walked home halfway through my shift and never came back.
Back on the AntiWork Road, IDK?
Back in February, I got a job as a Cashier at a local Wing diner. All seemed going well. Some days were crazier than others. Then people started leaving. Then the owner had some fallouts with the cooks. Because of this, he had to shut down the restaurant, citing lack of employment. During this time, I've actually been much happier again. You see, what attracts me to the antiwork movement, is that I have my own aspirations. I understand giving back to your society or paying dues or whatever, but i can easily do that thru gardening and other communal aids. I'm a writer, legitimate gardener (tomatoes, cucumbers, basil, lemon mint, jalapeno peppers, etc), i run a youtube channel where i interview people, and i also pursue competitive games like League or Competitive Magic the Gathering. Oh, and I also make music! This is all to say that im not…
I don’t have too much work experience but I just need a reliable 9-5 that can pay the bills. Nothing more nothing less. Should I just lie on my resume? Employers lie to their employees all the time anyway
Don’t miss a good opportunity to make mad money. Keep your ego in check. Some examples include being asked to finish a project, train a replacement, explain how your system works, or provide access to your own resources (cloud storage, notes), etc. In writing tell them you will be happy to help as a consultant and that your hourly rate is… $300? More? Do this via email (avoid texts) at least for the negotiation/contract part of your reengagement with the company. Set minimum hours for the ‘project’, e.g. 5 or 8, or 40, etc., with each fraction worked being rounded to the next half hour, e.g. If you work 2 1/4 hrs, that counts as 2 1/2 hrs. As a contractor, do not allow them to hurry you, but work in good faith at your regular pace. You must be paid via retainer, e.g. If you choose your minimum as…
So y’all still want to work but for it to be just, fair, and right? So what’s the difference? Also, is it some sort of communism thing where you don’t want to be ‘forced to work’ as in you need to work to get money to live?
Wage negotiation advice needed
First of all I’d like to say I agree with a lot of things posted here and I like getting to be a part of this even if it’s, currently, just from a spectator point of view. Anyways on to the point of my post, I am supposed to be negotiating a raise with my boss in the next day or two but I’m not sure how to be more uncompromising as I usually am. I’m the shipping supervisor of a rather small business that makes between 1-3 million a month but I’m only paid $16/hour – which isn’t nearly a living wage where I am. I make commission in addition to this that brings me up to ~18-20 dollars an hour, dependent on the amount of money we make for the month. I feel that this is fair for the most part but for the amount of time, energy,…
Boss made me cry at work
I’m an 18 year old female and I recently started working at a local small business gas station. This work environment is extremely toxic from what I’ve noticed so far from this month I’ve been there. My boss doesn’t seem very professional either, making me close and open the store by myself without having enough experience to be able to do it and getting mad at me if I mess up even one small thing. Two days ago at work I overheard my boss’s conversation with a coworker and was trash talking another employee about her panic attacks. Later that day I briefly mentioned this, saying nothing bad about either of them, to a different coworker and she must’ve went back and told the girl with the panic attacks. It turned into this huge thing. I worked this morning and my boss comes in and starts yelling at me for…
