I'm just curious how the benefits package work in the corporate world. Are all employees more of less offered the same level of benefits with the management level employees having a few special benefits added on top of the usual package? For example, if an ordinary employee would have the basic benefits package: 401k matching, healthcare, 15 days of pto… Would a management level employee have basically the same basic benefits package + a few special benefits like vision, dental, paid sick leave, life insurance, etc added on top of the basic benefits package? Or would they have enhanced basic benefits package (higher 401k matching, better healthcare plans, higher number of pto days, etc) as well as special benefits? Do companies that offer different benefits to different employees have multiple employee handbooks as well?
I’m trying to escape a dead end career and have been doing all I can to acquire skills and apply for something I’m very interested in. I applied for a position, had to answer a few questions on top of the resume and cover letter and landed an interview. I was so surprised and happy. Did all my research and prep work for the interview. I was all nervous but did well. Next day I get an email that the job has been put on hold. What a waste of time.
I have a strained relationship with my boss, but I recognize he's a competent guy that knows what he's doing. Are there bosses like Michael Scott (from the Office)? I couldn't imagine working under a guy like this, I would quick within the hour of starting a job. Any testimony?
Boss not paying overtime
Hi all, I just started a new job as a cook at a restaurant about a five months ago and after investigating have realized that my boss isn’t paying me for overtime. For context I have been working 50 hour weeks essentially since I started. I’m not sure what to do about this – is he allowed to ignore paying overtime? If he should be what should my next course of action be? ( I live in Texas if that changes anything)Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Target go brrr
All because I pointed out that the owners didn’t clean the espresso machine properly. I’ve literally put together these machines. Ive only worked three shifts and in their email they point out that I have “excellent work ethic” and “experienced and seasoned skills” but “cannot respect authority”. Fuck authority then. Jfc.
The business unit I work in at my company has quarterly goals, which if met 100%, every employee gets a $1000 payout. The manager just announced that we met 100% of our goals, but we will not be receiving any bonus because of numerous quality events. (One of the quality events was a disgruntled employee who purposefully damaged product before leaving the company). The manager just retroactively decided to change the terms of our bonus payout in order to punish and shame us. What a shitty leader. You do not motivate people by withholding money that they worked hard for. And how did he announce this? Via email at the end of the day on a Friday. What a coward.
CEO, CFO, VP, and DIrector of HR split $60k at the beginning of the year, and just split another $60k last month. The CFO took nearly 6 months off for personal reasons and the VP cost us hundreds of thousands of dollars and many hours of work when we switch to a new computer system. We took over another company. I gained most of the work. The company made us so much money, they decided to give raises. Yet I wasn't originally on their list to get a raise. My boss raised hell and did get me a buck.
