How to find out old managers name ?
I’m not sure if this kind of post is allowed here but I’m on the third step of a hiring process and I have to fill out a form that needs the name of the GM at a previous job. I forgot his name since it’s been 5 years and it was my very first job. I tried calling the store and speaking with 2 of the managers but they were no help and even when I called back like they told me to they still had no answers for me. They said they’d look around and get in touch with me and then hung up so I’m pretty sure that’s not gonna happen. However they did give me a name that sounded close to what I remember, but they didn’t say a last name. I tried calling to corporate number to see if the had any info but of…
So basically this happens a lot. I’ll get a new job while still having another job, and instead of putting two weeks in I no call/no show because I’m too afraid to tell the manger I’m quitting. Most recently I worked at a job that was very understaffed, and I was hired as part time. They put me on full-time though and when I asked them about it they got angry and changed it to 30 hours instead of the 40, yet my availability asked for 25. I then asked for 25 or less and they got angry so I just went along with 30 as at the time I could manage it. Well school started again and I was looking for another job. I didn’t want to change my availability then quit ( as I knew they’d be angry about both) so I was just gonna tough out working…
I’m just a worker bee. No tittle or anything. But apparently my supervisor said I have to find my own own coverage for time off? Is this even allowed?
Advice for requesting fewer hours a week
Hello, I just passed my 90 day mark on a job in Oregon. The probation period is 6months before I get sick time and other union protections though. I work as an RN 40 hours. The work itself is reasonable, pay is reasonable as well, but I am struggling with 4, 10 hour days. I also have some issues with burnout/anxiety that rear up when I don't have enough downtime. I know for many this would be a blessing, but I really want to go down to 30 hours or so, and get another day back. I have never worked 40hours until now, I want to feel like I have an actual life and can do things other than go to work, clean, cook, and sleep. TLDR- Question: how would you strategize to ask your manager to go to 30 hours after 90 days of employment? What way would you…
i cant work a job any more where i am required to stand for 8+ hours. my feet just cant take it. id bet money that more people would be a little more inclined to take these positions if we where allowed to sit while checking out customers. and instead of riding our asses to constantly find something to do to keep busy.. just let us do nothing when there are no customers. dont just make up shit for me to do cause you dont want me standing around.. let me fucking do nothing
Without naming names (idk how commonplace this is) they’re having me ask these peripheral questions after I’ve been hired and try some sort of weird feel goodsy shit. It’s an office job I’m just trying to fucking get paid and go home why are there all these arbitrary pointless hoops
I understand now
Hello everyone. I’m on mobile so sorry if there’s any formatting issues. I just wanted to say – I understand now. I usually work a part time online job. Desk jobs aren’t great but they aren’t terrible. They can be boring, but at least you’re not sacrificing your body. Recently I started a second job where I have to stand on my feet 6+ hours a day, supervising children and such. Now that… it’s absolutely draining and puts me in an exhausted mood afterward. And it’s not even as long as a usual shift! I can’t imagine working like that everyday and then still having the energy to do anything meaningful at home afterward. Props to anyone who works physical job(s) and even moreso to those who have a whole family life/routine on top of it. Like, wow. And for years and years on end. I am hoping I can…
[Aus] RANT: want to start my new job…
I wanted to specify that I work in Australia as the pay here would be considered different in other parts of the world. Okay so, I’ve been working as a trainee in a preschool ( for $18-$19/h) and have loved it, it is definitely a very physically and mentally demanding job but I enjoy it overall. I have finished my studies and now am qualified, and should have started my new job at my current centre which will be 3 days instead of the 5, 8 hour days I have been doing. I was told my employer that I have the job and to finish my studies as soon as possible, so I did just that, I finished almost a month earlier with hopes I’ll be able to start the new job…. Fast forward to now and here I am, still working the same days and hours and I’m truly…
