I’m 17 and I wanna know if you guys have any tips for me to not fall into the money trap aka the rat race. I wanna live a life I enjoy I already wasted 10+ years going to school which was soul destroying. I’m weirdly obsessed with YouTube it’s all I think about from the moment I wake up to when I’m trying to sleep even now I’m thinking about it. Instead of studying and doing school I’m studying social media algorithms and how creators on them grow. I’m going to be youtuber or die trying. I know this is a very hard gig to get into since 75% of kids my age want to be a youtuber but what they fail to understand is that YouTube is much more than just recording videos it’s about marketing yourself and there are a lot of skills that are needed to…
Americans are becoming less productive, and that's a risk to the economy https://www.npr.org/2022/10/07/1126967875/quiet-quitting-productivity-workers-ennui-working-jobs?sc=18&f=1126967875 That bigger story being: Workers do not wish to participate in the economy due to bad managerial and selfish practices of businesses.
I was working for a small company (maybe 50 employees) for about 3 years and everything was going well. I was their only electrician and they paid me ok but not great, but I was ok with this since it was my first job after graduating. It all started with COVID. During the first week or two of COVID going rampant nobody really knew how bad it was or wasn't, but there were a lot of ppl fearful of what was happening. I had already anticipated my state being “shut down” and decided to use my remaining vacation days to stay at home until that happened. My state shut down all non-essential businesses while I was on vacation, and since my business wasn't essential- I didn't go back. I stayed home and collected unemployment until the state reopened. I returned to work and the environment had become pretty hostile. Unbeknownst…
How to deal w/Lazy coworker ?
I have this co worker , we normally share task between ourselves and complete the task. She always has an emergency and I end up doing every thing. Is a work from home job and a pricing analyst job where I have to audit thousands of lines and find discrepancies . Sometimes I send her messages on teams concerning a task we have to do I don’t get a reply till the next day. What do I do Cos I’m fed up?
I finished this project three months ago and spent about two weeks of my time working on this project. All I can say is that I’m considering legal action but am unsure if I can afford the legal fees. The Founder has stalled constantly and refuses to do anything. What should I do?
When I think of my ideal society I, like I think many others here (but I know not all), envision one with work but in a way that is just much, much differently structured than it currently is. Obviously I don’t have the “right answers” and it’s no one person’s job to have them, but I’d just like to brainstorm here. The memes are nice but productive discussion is nice too 🙂 The way I see it, shit needs to get done (food needs to be grown, things need to be built though obviously like at 1% of the rate we’re currently building besides maybe housing), kids need to be taken care of, medical needs addressed. But there are tons of jobs out there that don’t need to exist, so if we wound it down to only the necessary jobs, maybe we’d each work 5-10 hours a week. Maybe everyone’s…
Mods feel free to take this down if it’s not allowed. I’ve been at this job for 4 months, and for pretty much the whole time a coworker who has been there for barely longer than I have has been absolutely loathsome to me. Due to circumstances beyond my control, I’ve had to have a lot of jobs, and she uses this as an excuse to treat me horribly because “if she doesn’t like it she can just quit”. She’s condescending, rude, and immature. She treats me like I’m stupid and everything I do is done wrong in her opinion. I’ve even gone so far as to ask my boss if I’m doing something wrong because of how she treats me, and gotten confirmation from my boss that there haven’t been any complaints/I’m not doing anything wrong. Every time I try to do something, whether it’s stock shelves or check…
