Hustle culture makes me sick (literally)

For the second time in just one month I am sick because people “make the sacrifice” and come into work clearly ill. It took out the entire company the first time. I almost hope it does again. Haven’t even had covid (negative each time), and it’s two colds of all things that end a 3 year health streak. I never stopped wearing masks everywhere which makes this even more infuriating.

The two types of posts in r/antiwork…

First kind… “My company pays the lowest they legally can and treats us as badly as the law allows. My direct supervisor is petty and vindictive, and the environment is constantly hostile. This subreddit represents a fight for respect, and a fundamental shift in the employer/employee power imbalance that has gone too far one way. I believe a valued and cared for employee will provide better results for my employer, creating a win-win scenario.” Second kind… “The company I work for won't give me a raise or let me make my own schedule so I'm gonna accuse my manager of harassment then light his car on fire. Next week I'm mailing a box full of dogshit to his home address and I'm going to call child services and have his kids taken away. #antiwork!!”

The budget is important? To you, not me lol

I work at the front desk of a hotel, and I have always been an outstanding employee. I get awesome reviews and the guests love me. The problem, however, isn't me….It's my boss. He and he alone gets a bonus every quarter the hotel runs under budget….and it turns him into a scroogey nightmare. For example, our ice machine has been broken for 6 months and he refuses to get a new one. We never have enough towels or bedding for the rooms. We consistently run short staffed and have 1 front desk agent as the only staff on property 60% of the time. The rooms are falling apart. Nothing gets repaired. He's cut our shuttle hours to avoid labor costs. He's even put wage freezes on employees to prevent raises…. And guess who hears the complaints? Not him, he only works 6 hours a day. It's the front desk…

Never settle for bad treatment at work!

Hi guys, Came across this sub and wanted to drop a story of my first job. I live in the UK and got my first job at a buffet restaurant when I was about 15 during my summer holidays as a way to fuel my bodybuilding/powerlifting ambitions 🙂 This restaurant I worked at had a manager who most the workers hated. At first I didn't understand why as he always seemed to treat me with respect. At first I thought maybe it was because of how I spoke to him and maybe the other workers didn't speak so politely. I always reffered to him as “Uncle” instead of “manager” like the others did. This was just out of respect and habit I guess. Since in our culture we always call our elders uncle/auntie out of respect when we are young (I'm Pakistani myself but I believe this is common across…
