I've been working in my current job for about 3 years and do consulting, accounting and other things for companies. I deal with a lot of higher up management and businesses ranging from sole traders to some of the biggest companies on the planet. I'm honestly shocked at just how stupid so many of the high-level managers are. A few examples: I had a senior accountant of a major global brand constantly pay the wrong amount on invoices sent to them then be completely confused as to why they're fluctuating between being in debt and credit. I've explained it to them about 6 times, they still don't understand and continue to pay the wrong amounts. A senior national manager for the same major global brand who apparently specializes in handling contracts and agreements didn't read the contracts properly and assumed things that were never written. A major logistics company had…
Quitting like a boss
The risks taken were not calculated.
Applied for a job and I'm about to finish and… I have to describe myself with 4 adjectives? This sucks, as I have to present this to my interviewer, for some odd fucking reason. What are the blandest, most basic, adjectives I can use to not seem extremely narcissistic or like a bad person? Keep it as basic as possible, please. Thank you, my hated enemy.
I’ve frequently seen advice or stories on Reddit, either this sub or others, about quitting on the spot or without the courtesy 2 week notice. That got me thinking. I never did that out of fear of ruining future opportunities and burning bridges. I always gave 2 week notice to all employers, even ones I hated. I work in government now and all my positions required extensive background investigations that specifically asked employers how I quit. I don’t know what woulda happened if one said “she just didn’t show up one day” or “she threw a fit and left”. So, my question is, how do y’all deal with potential consequences of leaving an employer like that? I understand that not all new jobs check previous employers but I would still feel crazy anxious about it blowing in my face at one point and taking a job opportunity from me.
I’m going to summarize this the best I can, hopefully I can’t provided the provided details for a quality answer. I have been doing scheduling for a large medical department at a prestigious college for over a year and a half. I’ve had nothing but stellar reviews the entire time. About 9 months ago our current manager left and was replaced with an incompetent and lazy manager who to this day doesn’t understand our full department and scheduling procedures) for all 7 sub specialities within the practice and their different scheduling procedures we have. It’s obvious now that she wanted to clear house of anyone before her. Of the 14 long time employees we had when she started we now have 2 left, me included. I’ve been over securitized for months now for nothing but semantics. Recently I had to deal with a referring office that was referring for an…
