EDIT: so I could visit my family for the first time* (initially wrote this in the first person as her but went in another direction) She’s been working at this company for approximately 1.5 years. They’ve generally been good to her besides false promises around salary and promotion (another story I won’t get into). In February I informed my supervisor that I had plans to help my boyfriend take care of some medical issues with his family in a South Asian Country (we live in the US). He said “since you’re not moving their permanently you don’t have to do anything extra. I’m confirming now, but you should be good to go!” Over the last 10 months she’s met with him each week and he has only assured her that her trip is going to be amazing. Asking her what she’s going to do while there, confirming time zone changes,…
Complaint filed!
I did it! My employer has told me that I can’t miss any more work due to it not being fair to the rest of my dept even though I’m on FMLA for my IBS. It’s a lot better lately but I am still having a giant amount of pain due to stress and anxiety. I asked to work remotely 1 day/week and they said that was also unfair bc not everybody could work from home. So today I filed a complaint with my state Human Rights Commission! Wish me luck!
Open on Thanksgiving? Screw you.
This is THE biggest family holiday in America. You think you're doing your workers a solid by closing early? YOU SHOULDN'T EVEN BE OPEN. Screw your greed and especially a big FU to companies that think paying time and a half is adequate compensation for it. If you're making people work Thanksgiving you should be paying triple time MINIMUM. “But we're closing 5 hours early!” FU Thanksgiving is a whole day experience for most of us. We have family from out of town that we haven't seen ALL YEAR. You know who's not working? All you greedy insensitive rich executive bastards. There's no reason for TRULY non-essential stores to be open without paying a fat bonus to the people they make work. 1.5x pay is a JOKE at these paltry wages.
They are about 3 hours and cover active shooter response, corporate secrecy and some other b.s. We don’t have the option of watching them at work.
