I am in a somewhat niche field which requires specialized experience using certain software. I have been unemployed for about 3 months now and have applied to probably 100 or so jobs, and have had about a dozen interviews. I don't have a problem with employers being picky. I get that they want “the best candidate”, but please stop interviewing 8-10 people for one position. I'd seriously rather not waste my time with an interview where I just reiterate what's on my resume and describe a few projects. You should be able to narrow down your choices more before asking people to travel to your office. Most of these jobs are with local governments, which means I have to drive all over to do these interviews. I don't get paid for any of that. Gas in California is over $6 a gallon now in most places. I'm quickly depleting my…
I recently left a work from home position, a job that was unchallenging, mundane, and too easy. While working from home was great, I quickly became isolated, and the work itself quickly caused my ADHD to plummet. I grew so bored of the job that I honestly hated clocking in. But, boy do I miss it now. I had paid PTO, immediate benefits, and a great work/life balance. I thought maybe a change would help me, and I wanted to make more money. I took an opportunity locally, in an office. The work itself is what I did (digital marketing) about two years ago, managing social media. I really enjoyed myself. I didn’t make much money, but the team was great and I excelled. I was excited to get back into a similar role, one that paid me much more than my previous positions. The job itself is engaging, fun,…
My Boss is a Total B
I'll come in extra early sometimes to work but if I'm late one time she goes totally ballistic on me and gives me death stare. We usually get two free meals if we're on time but she'll refuse me dinner if I'm late but my female coworker gets to have both regardless how late she is and she's been working longer than me. I just feel it's a very eggshell sexist environment she harrases me like crazy whenever she's in a bad mood I get paid combined with the tips $17 an hour. Thinking about going back to warehouse for that sweet +20 an hour if I get lucky. Don't have to deal with rude customers and a very harassing boss that's passive aggressive and insults. Tl:dr Feels like my boss is very sexist and bias only hard on me. Need more money
Possibly Leaving a Job After One Month
So I am working locally in an cafeteria. I love the hours. Hate the pay. I wanted this job to work out because of the fact that I wouldn’t have to drive far. However, today I decided that I might already have to move on. Between the crappy training and unpaid 20 hours of off the clock training I’m supposed to partake, it’s only the bottom layer. The top layer was the meeting we had right before lunch. Was told that we needed to be better time managers. Kinda hard to be a good time manager when we are moved around constantly, not trained and new to the job (two of us are new). I’ve begun applying for other jobs out of town since where I live jobs are scarce, or you have to have a certain name to get a job. I hate it but this job is just…
So for 6 months I have been working at the most soul crushing/draining/tearing work as a call centre agent aka I work with the worst society has to offer for example a lady who literally told me ‘hurry up, I have 5 other companies I have to call to complain about’ . Jeez I think most of these angry callers just call to vent their frustrations and have no real issues with their service like they claim after the 10th repair really? Your calling to yell again? So anyways after having a emergency issue at my desk and being away from my desk a few hours I wasn’t receiving any call or text to see if I was ok or why I was out of my desk. I felt like the company didn’t give a rats ass if I bled out on that table right there and then. So I…
Work a job you hate or starve
Starting off by providing context: I have worked for a small lawnmowing company for the past three summers. (When I say small, I have been the only full time employee other than the owner who runs the business out of his house. There have been a few part timers that have come and gone.) My boss has been decent overall; giving me regular bonuses and raises and even some PTO when a part timer was available to fill in. Now to why I am leaving: Last week I get into the work truck and my boss is all bundled up. He says that his son got sick at school and it has spread to the rest of the family. He complained of chills, fever, and body aches. I naively decide to stay and work for the day. (I didn't think it was possible he had covid because I thought he…
Why You Hate Your Job
List of “fees” the better paying company charges if hired: Extra pay stub fee if you lose one – $10 $20 for new W-2 if one gets sent to an old address $25 for background check and must be cash $50 charged each time if a family or friend calls the company number that’s listed publicly online $40 fee if you don’t return the two shirts they gave you $250 “training fees” if you quit without written notice and/or are unable to fulfill a two-weeks notice. Must pay to get check. I will NOT be naming this company. But wow.
