Back when covid started, my dad's company cut everyones pay by 10% and they never restored it. I was hoping someone could give an answer as to if there is anything that can be done about this or if it's an “it is what it is situation”? Thank you.
The Poop List Part 2
Hey all, not Scott here, so I wanted to post a quick follow up to a story I shared on here last Friday. For those of you who didn't see, about a week ago I was presented with a list of all my bathroom breaks and asked to explain them. I was then asked to justify why I had difficulties getting to work when my car was in the shop for over a month (I had to borrow my mom's car eventually because the dealer refused to issue a 24 year old a loaner car and i couldnt keep asking for rides from friends). The update is they fired me without completing my final 2 weeks. I came in the office this morning, nobody said a word to me. I had Halloween off so I sorted through 100 emails by lunch, finished everything on my to do list by 3,…
(TL;DR) in my teens and live with my mom in an income controlled apartment complex in the US. i’ve strongly considered getting a job because we are very poor. our food stamps, my mom's disability, and even our apartment could be taken away if I were to get one, but we don’t have money. our car needs repairs that will cost upwards of a few thousand in total (and that’s not even to make it considered safe to drive). she has multiple health issues and goes into the emergency room every few months because of it. she is on well over a dozen meds that sometimes get lost or destroyed that end up needing replacing that we can’t afford. she gets bad withdrawals and could end up in the hospital from not taking them if they arent able to be replaced. i am on meds. These, even with insurance, cost…
I think I got fired after putting in my notice. My employer said they will pay me 2 weeks worth after my notice and I will no longer be working as of tomorrow once I wrap something up. Did I get fired? Am I entitled to anything? I am missing out on a week or two of pay still.
I'm looking for advice for my partner. He works at a care home for people who cannot care for themselves due to mental disabilities. Lately its been getting pretty awful there. I will spare you the details of the drama but in short, clients being abused, manager quit, wishy washy about hours. The owner of the company has showered praise on my partner for his hard work at the home, which made some other employees pissed and have been making his life difficult. My partner wants to quit. But its not possible right now. We need his half to survive and no other jobs around this tiny town. But we are looking. The problem now since the manager quit is that one of the other higher up workers (lower than manager, higher than my partner) keeps calling him 10 minutes before his scheduled shift and telling him, “We don't need…
Probationary Periods Are a Fucking Joke
I work for a company that is barely getting by in its field of production. So much so that we are required to work 10 hours on weekdays and 5-8 hours on Saturdays. My probationary period is 90 days. If I miss three days for whatever reason, I am tired. Less than 30 days in and I suspect I have COVID so I took off work. I have no healthcare because my 90 days aren’t up so I cannot get a doctors note, and even if I did it would not take off my strike. The thing that is ridiculous to me is that I am still required to work the mandatory overtime. I love my job, I love working, I love feeling proud of myself for doing such a physically taxing job as a newly 18 year old girl with no prior experience in anything. But the fact that…
