Can we acknowledge that money is broken?

We wake up, go to our jobs, do our own 9-5, then a quick 10-6:30, go home, sleep, get paid, repeat. The point of work is to build a financial future for ourselves, our families, and our communities. Money– getting paid- isn't something most people should overthink. And yet, when the central monetary system loses its stability, how can anyone plan for their futures, let alone their 401k or stock-pension retirement plan. Why would anyone buy a million dollar home on a 10% fixed rate loan? Why not just go to an “emerging markets” where your money is much, much more valuable? Why work at all? It's all just taxation and debt repayments anyways? I'm not asking what I can do for our fiat cross of gold, I'm really just asking what it can do for me?

MedTech Company putting residence and workers at risk.

Read an interesting article today in my local news about a medical device company that is putting out high amounts of a toxic gas called Ethylene oxide, which is said to increase cancer and blood pressure with long-term exposure. The article focused on the ~700 residence near by that could be at higher risk due to this emissions but said nothing concerning those that work at the plant itself. So now workers are working in a medical device company that could cause health problems down the road which in turn will cause them to need the very products they once helped produce. Keep in mind that, per the EPA, this company is in regulation but the EPA is working to rewrite this regulation to reduce this gas emissions. For a company that has the Motto of “advancing the world of health”, this just shows where company priorities truly are. Link…

I Don’t Understand Why this Sub Hates Servers so Much

I'm sure I'll be down voted to hell. Downvote away! Isn't this sub about work reform and fair play? Don't we want to see each other do well in spite of our jobs? Why does the concept of tipping your server make people so angry? The federal minimum wage for a tipped server is $2.13 an hour. We didn't make the rules. We don't want to be paid 2-3 dollars an hour. We're not the ones who set up the system. We just do what everyone else does: try our best to feed our families and pay our bills. I've been in the food service industry for 6 years. Allow me tell you why we deserve to make the money we make. 1 – Serving is deeply labor intensive and hard on your body. I'm 23 and I have sciatica, recurring lower back pain, and both of my feet are…

About the posts talking about 50-70+ hours being too much.

Isn't 40 too much too? I just hope that people on here are serious about understanding that 40 hour work weeks are way too much too. We should really be advocating for less than 20 hours bc I feel like some people really underestimate how much better they would be with them. (Ah well it has been like this so we have to accept it). Well, you don't have to accept it, it's just people allow it to dominate their lives when they could push back against the system collectively now thanks to things like social media. Anything over 20 hours should be optional. (And there isn't much stopping people from pushing the system to provide them the resources to be able to.)
