I hear many stories from this subreddit about unreasonable demands. Bosses demanding you work after a close loved one dies, being sexually harassed, not being paid for work, etc. If we take a sociopath's view of it, then it's because the bosses (either correctly or incorrectly) figure that they have enough power over you to coerce you into doing what they want. I wouldn't want to work a 36-hour long shift for example (actually happened to a coworker once btw), but if there were no other jobs available and having a job was the only way to avoid starving to death in the streets, I'd do it. However, even if sociopaths make up most of the CEOs in a business, people who are closer to the ground should be much more likely to be decent human beings. And yet oftentimes, they still ask completely unreasonable requests what gives? I know…

Do I report my employer to the police?
I work for a homeless charity. One of our service users was evicted by management from emergency accommodation. This was because he had mental health (hearing voices) related violence- assaulting peers in accommodation. However, management evicted him without putting safeguarding referrals into the local council or referring to mental health services. I found out he stabbed someone 30 times (attempted murder charge) days after being evicted. Our manager informed us in a group staff meeting. However when the police came back and questioned staff they were surprised that we knew and asked how/when we were informed. The police said we were informed prior to the service user being brought into custody/the police knowing it was him. He was arrested a day after this meeting. The police called a manager in my presence, she lied to them when questioned saying we didn't know why he was in custody. I asked later…
Not to long ago, I went to one of my mangers, told him, about how shortly after I was transferred there, I had found weed that was in front of my sitting area at work. Which was a few months ago. He was kinda upset that I told them about it now, not really because he would’ve done anything had I mentioned it when I first found it, but mostly just because I mentioned it. I told my manger that I had asked everybody else about it, and no one wanted to claim it so I threw it away. I felt like somebody was trying to set me up, I had mentioned to the other manager a long time ago that I used to smoke back in HS. I believe that manger was the one who planted it, I saw him in the area a lot that day. So today,…

When I was 22 in 1992 (I am 52, Gen-X, born in 1970) I worked in fast food making about $6.50 as an asst mgr & there were signs on apartments for $199 move in special, $299 a month for 1 bdrm in a nice part of Ft Worth, TX. I had a 1 bdrm & was easily able to make it. When I was in my late 20's & had kids I actually bought a piece of land for $250 a month & brand new mobile home for $300 a month & was able to make it at $12 an hr job, even in my 30's in 2010 I could still get a 2 bdrm, 2 story townhouse with fireplace & all new upgraded appliances for under $500 a month, $299 move-in special. Life was pretty good. Now my grown kids can't afford to move out of the house…
