We got the best reward at work!
Just kidding. We crushed it the entire month of July and had the best numbers in the region so we get the always wanted pizza party instead of a bonus. These companies just don’t get it
My little slice of hell
I was blessed with a really great job last year and I work from home maybe 95% of the time. My work is court-related so I'm dealing with all kinds of people. The few times I have to work in-person, it's never the same location, and more than likely, I don't have to see these people ever again after my job is complete. Currently, I am working in-person, so I'm stuck with these fuckers all week. These fuckers are a lawyer (L) and a court reporter (CR). We are working an arbitration that is taking place over zoom. So I met these two for the first time Monday. Made some small talk, set everything up. CR is asking L for names of some people to have handy and he mentions one name, and she whispers like there's other people in the room, meanwhile it's literally just us 3, “is she…
Collecting balances for PTO “prizes”
I work in a medical office that’s part of a larger for profit company, that offers shit PTO. It’s all in a collective bank for sick and vacation, and if you have appointments during work hours, you HAVE to use your PTO, you can’t go unpaid or make up hours. So essentially, everyone has to work everyday and never take time off for anything if they have appointments. Our company is banking on this making people desperate, because they have “contests” every month to see who from each office can collect the most balances due from patients. The prize? PTO. Capitalism is a joke.
Why do you stay? No seriously. Why do you stay? You have a country which, at a minimum, reflects anti work values twice as much right next to you (Canada). You can travel Visa free to some of the best countries in the world cheaply (
Funny sick day rules
So I took a sick day from the office today and according to the rules over here apparently you don’t get paid for sick leave during probation. Fine unfair and stupid but that’s just maybe how the law works but then the HR proceeded to call me to ask me why I’m sick and taking sick leave during probation. And he tells me “you need to manage your health in some way and not take sick days cus the management doesn’t appreciate people taking sick days especially during probation” Trust me if my visa wasn’t on the line I’d have quit right there and then. SMFH
I feel like whenever I take a mental health day it just isn’t enough. It’s temporary relief for a permanent issue. I feel afraid during the day that I’ll get an email the next day about attendance, I feel the scaries for the looming work day coming after. Once I’m back I feel as if I’m right where I started. The day felt as if I’m just running away from a problem that cannot be solved. I’m thinking about quitting and going back to school, but then I won’t have a steady income.
Tested positive
Just tested positive for covid which is oddly a relief as work has been soo stressful but I’m worried about my mum and my boss just told me I’ll be fine and claims he tested negative. My frustrations are it’s clearly been around work as that’s all I have ever been and now I worry I’ll get a bollocking for taking time off for covid
