Issue regarding my current position.

I was pulled over to the side to talk with manager today due to taking what I believe is 9 days of sick days due to to mental health and personal issues regarding my health over the last 4 weeks. Apparently it's seems there was a pattern of said days off that I called in sick for and they offered me time off should I need it. However my problem has already been dealt with. So the time off was politely declined. That being said I've been told the next time I call in sick, they dont want to see me, or don't bother coming in next shift. I work night shifts so I've been told if I have something come up during the day, to deal with it during the day and still come in to work nights. Which I understand. However there are situations where I loose significant…

Potential bait & switch?

So, I was unceremoniously thrust back into the job seeking world two months ago, which is a whole other story entirely. After going on at least 10 interviews, I finally land a non-profit job (I have non-profit experience and a Bachelors). Now, when I applied, the salary range was $38k to $56k on Indeed, but they offered me $36k. When I went back onto the listing I applied for, it showed $35k to $37k. I really don't remember it being that low. But, after 2 months, I needed something (I am also in graduate school for non-profit admin). I tried negotiating up, as I have a 4 year old and a mortgage, but was only able to get to $38k. I accepted it, begrudgingly. Today, just on a hunch, I went and searched back on Indeed for the listing, and lo and behold, the exact same job that I got…

Apple cut my fiancés hours in half after three years working in the apple store

Just got the awesome news that apple has placed a hard limit of 20 hours per week on part time employees. My fiancé who normally works roughly 30 hours a week now is being scheduled for 16. Roughly 1k a month less then what she currently makes. What sucks is she can’t just quit and easily get another job, we’re both in school still and she relies on apple for her health insurance etc. not many places offer the benefits apple does to part time employees. So I guess we’ll just figure out how to survive on 1k less a month. Shouldn’t be too hard in todays economy. nervous laugh

Why does it always feel like an abusive relationship??

I love my job but maybe I shouldn't? I'm always afraid of quitting jobs because where will I go? How am I supposed to leave all my work friends behind and give up on the progress I've made in my current job and start all over? I love my job but it pays average, my boss keeps adding more to my plate, corporate doesn't care, and I keep getting physically ill from the stress. At what point do I decide it's not fucking worth it anymore, and just go work at a fast food joint that is significantly less fulfilling but pays more and I never have fun at?

Shady Boss! Help!

Hey there everyone. So here's the story. My husband works for a butcher shop. In the last 3 years his pay check has been late 8-10 times. Currently asking for banking records to see exactly how many times the direcr deposit was late. Well the last 3 paychecks have been late. The first one was 5 days late. The next time my husband left and said when I get paid I'll be back to work. They ended up getting paid the next day. Well again his check was late so he said again. I do not work for free I will be back when I get paid. This is how his boss responded. He texted my husband and said you can come back the 31st. He put my husband on a suspension for not getting paid and for walking out for not getting paid. He then tells my husband's father…

How has this been the norm for so long?

How has working for such little money kept going on for so long? Why hasn't the people came together and stood up to these greedy capitalist companies that shred you of your energy and pay you a pittance at the end of every month? I'm 30 years old and I've already had enough of the rat race, I just don't understand how something like this has kept going on through the generations and people have just allowed it. In all honesty I could manage mentally 4 hours of work a day with no problem but 8,9,10,11,12 hour shifts are just ridiculous and plus even with those hours worked many people still struggle to pay bills etc, the system is completely F'ed!
