My boss is not paying us the tips that we are tipped on the register system.

We have one of those things that ask the costumer to select a tip option and he is not giving us our tips. He says he needs to set up the system but he is yet to do so and keeps dodging when we ask him. Is this legal?

I just don’t understand.

I work for a major retailer and time to time I hop on our subreddit. It blows my mind the people who are answering questions on there for customers as if they are at work. You get no time edits for helping people pick products online. There are official channels for that and ya know. The store. Where you get paid to do exactly that. Am I wrong in thinking this? I understand that everyone’s situation is different and maybe you can’t make it to a store or one isn’t close, but again you have the entirety of Google to help you research products to help you go in with informed questions.

Would you quit a construction job to go into mortgage banking?

I’ll make it quick. Used to work in mortgages but worked 12 hour days and made about $58k a year. Finally said fuck it I’ll go back to framing because I can make $58k in 40 hours. Now I’m an assistant super making $70k a year but working OBSCENE hours (12-14 hours no lie every day) with no end in sight. My question is would you go back to an industry that is going thru a decline to gain work life balance back or would you continue with a fuckin salary position yet work obscene hours? I feel fucked either way what do u think lol. Ps; I have no kids, no wife and no house (or dick) so nothing really to lose except my self respect 🥲

My boss blew up at me over an earpiece.

At my job all employees are required to be on walkie with earpieces in their ears at all times. They are awful, they basically clip onto our ears and has an earbud that sits in. It's super uncomfortable especially if you are working an 8 to 10 hour shift. I was talking to my boss and didn't realize I had forgotten to put it back in and he asked why I wasn't wearing it. I said it's uncomfortable and if there was anyway I could have the walkie without? He said absolutely not, that is against policy and he wears his all day and he doesn't like it but it's not uncomfortable and that next time he sees me without the earpiece in he is writing me up.

I think there’s a lot this guy doesn’t understand about the average person. He’s minimizing the stress of high volume jobs.

Ex Employer never sent COBRA paperwork…now what?

Hey all. I was laid off by a European-based startup in September. My insurance through them effectively ends today and they never sent or provided paperwork for a COBRA extension. I e-mailed HR but I know the company acts in bad faith so I’m not expecting much. What are my options? I am still searching for a new job and can’t afford to lose insurance to top it off. Also to mention, I had foot surgery a few months back and have met my deductible and the insurance is of course badass since it’s a PPO. I need it fairly frequently because of medical issues.

I propose the “Managers Fetch Coffee” paradigm: An outline, for your critique

This is just an idea that I have been playing around with. A new way for companies to organize their teams of workers. Imagine you have a team of 12 workers, and a manager overseeing their work. He set's deadlines, organizes meetings. He hires people and MAYBE he fires people from his team. Pretty normal stuff, but by some mechanism of outside force (company culture, higher-ups enforcing this paradigm via reviewing his decisions) He is not the GodHead of that team, he simply has a role on that team. His role is to organize the environment for that team to do the best job possible. Sometimes this means firing misbehaving, lazy, incompetent members, I guess, but it also means procuring resources for the team, fencing emails and other distractions all day, and fetching coffee for the team (Assuming the team member doesn't want to stretch his legs himself). He cleans…
