I work Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm, I don’t handle work-related matters out of those hours, and I refuse to install Outlook or Teams or anything work-related on my phone. My downtime is my downtime.

Worried I’ll lose my job

So I live in the UK and have bipolar so I’m protected by the equality act. Meaning I won’t face the same disciplinary measures as other people will. I have had a lot of absences these past 2 years. Last year was worse than this year though. All my absences have been written off so far. Last year I probably had about 10 different absences but it was a bad year for mental health. This year I’ve had a lot of “mental health days” and I’ve been physically ill a few times. I’ve probably been off about 6-7 times but they’ve only been short absences. I have so far got away with it but I worry what could happen in the future if I continue. I’m off sick today with a stomach bug (I’m mostly over it but I was looking forward to taking the day off too much). Anyone…

I need outside perspectives

So, recently at work, I got cross-trained from my normal job responsibilities (helping park cars, working a toll booth, on-foot parking lot attendant basically) to a driving position. This, normally, wouldn’t be concerning. They’ve taken my 7 am – 3 pm shifts at my usual locations and responsibilities and swapped me, with no warning, to 6:15 pm to 2:45 am shifts. I know my health, I know my body, by the time I get to work, I’ll have been awake for 13 hours and the time bomb will be ticking for me becoming more and more sleep exhausted, driving a 5-ft wide van (with other human beings in it) along a 6-ft wide road with numerous obstacles. It’s an accident waiting to happen and I told management so. They told me that, unless I had a medical accommodation that corporate would accommodate, they wouldn’t be doing anything as training me…

Job refrence in Australia

Hello all I come here asking advice Without going too much into it, I am am close to signing on to a new job but need two refrences that have to be from jobs in Australia. I am from the UK I have had two long term jobs here but the problem is, one of them ended badly where I had to go through fair work to make a claim due to being underpaid the whole time I was there. My only other option is to use the 90 days regional work I had to do for my working holiday visa as a reference. My only concern is that it was a volunteer bushfire role and not a paid role. It was on a guys property and he wasn't really my manager or boss. Should I be honest and say this is all I've got and try he 90 regional…

Looking for some advice, if anyone knows the answer

A co-worker got hurt last Teusday. Here's the kicker: From what I can tell, it *was* doing work for the job, but A) it was off-site, and B) no-one asked him to do it. He just volunteered himself, and got hurt in the process. We're in California. Is this a Worker's Comp case or not? Boss says it's not. Best I can tell, she's not one to fuck people over just because. Does anyone know for sure?

The Motto “If you do what you love”

Saying if you do what you love you never work a day in your life. It bothers me in some way that I cannot explain… someone put in a better experience/explanation please.

To walk out or to not walk out

Going through the worst panic attack right now, boss wants to call me in for a meeting tomorrow morning because I called out too many days last week, normally don't call out but decided do so, want to just turn in my keys and quit. I don't have a job lined up yet, although I just have to make a few phone calls and likely will be able to find something within a few weeks if that since I work in the electrical trade, been working for the same a hole for over 6 years and I'm over it, never really quit or been fired but I just don't want to go back, ugh I'm having a nervous break down, help.
