That's the policy of the restaurant I work at in Kentucky. My coworker quit today because the GM said they seen him walking around for 20 minutes not working so they said they were going to change his time in the computer so he would have been working for free for those 20 minutes. Meanwhile, managers are never reprimanded for taking long breaks or sitting in the “no camera closet” just to talk. So can they legally take anyone's last paycheck if they don't turn in the work shirts they buy with their first paycheck?
Corporate Ripoff
I have a friend whose stepfather works at a dairy plant in NY. They were migrating to a more sustainable container but found the production equipment wasn’t compatible. He looked at it and created a part that resolved the problem and ended up speeding up production and the company patented it, sold it for millions, and sent him a cookie tray. Capitalists aren’t your friend.
So, where I'm at currently, we just recently heard from the 'elites that be controlling our company that don't do shit for the company' that we're having to do massive cuts in terms of hours worked, basically taking a 10 man team to 1 man team because as we were told… For every $1000 in profit, we get $1 for payroll. Like how does that fucking work? Does that actually work anywhere? What is the kind of thought process behind this? Cause like, nobody's going to be working next week then. And even though they're wanting me to handle the shift solo (I've proven unfortunately before because we had a covid scare and I was the only one allowed to go in since I was vaxxed/boosted while others were either not vaxxed or covid +) I'm not going to do it cause I feel like that's encouraging really bad behavior…
In a dead store in a dead end town with broke people, how are you gonna complain that I’m not getting enough sales.. Since I started a week ago I got 3 contracts and a bunch of prepaid sales and accessories.. Get over yourselves Y’all out of touch, the paper with numbers does not reflect the people of the community
Leaving Job
So I just put in my 2 week notice. Now my supervisor is asking for new job salary so that my current employer can see about what can be done to keep me here. Am I crazy for being upset that now they want to raise my salary to keep me? Why not raise before I found a new position? Family says see what they will offer. Friends vote just taking new offer and leaving. Internet strangers what would you do?
Hi guys. Im a J1 student working in the US for the summer season. My employer provided housing in a dorm style building and we are around 60 students sharing a total or 4 bathrooms (showers and toilets are not separate). Most of us share a room with two more people. As you can imagine, its terrible. No one is cleaning this place for us and i tried deep cleaning it a couple of times just to see it even worse the next day. We have mice (thats why the roaches started to dissapear, thank god /s) and Im sure they would blame it on us for “living like pigs” if we brought it up. I tried contacting my visa sponsor about the employer before, telling them about how we have expired or non existent first aid kits and not enough protective gear to do our jobs (we are, ironically,…

Whelp, the new job messed up
Been at this job for five work weeks, and I'm already looking for a new one. Why? Today during a 'mandatory' 10 hr overtime shift my 30 min lunch was denied. First off, pretty sure the law says (and in my state it DOES IN FACT) require employees be given a 30 min lunch break no later than 6hrs into any shift. Second, bit of background, I'm a welder, and weld fumes cause me some gastro issues. I normally take 3 bathroom breaks during an 8 hr day to clear out some discomfort. Manager knows this. I disclosed it after my first few days. Non issue until today for whatever reason. He monitored all 3 bathroom breaks, and after the final one made a comment about how he's going to have to chain me to my work table. For fuckin real dude, buh bye. I'll be documenting EVERYTHING homie. Video,…
