He eventually said he was joking only after he was widely condemned.
Bosses backed me up when I went apeshit on a customer. No charges filed. 100% backing and fistbumps.
The other recent thread here reminded me of this story. In January 2020 (oh you bet the date is important) I was working at a marketing agency that was a child company of a giant Fortune 500 not named “ComniOm Troop”. I had only been there about 4 months at the time but I had adjusted well, my team and manager were great and I had a stellar 3 month performance review. We had a handful of clients but the main one (like 70%) was a huge telecom monopoly fair and ethical company who’s name is 3 letters. We had a department meeting where we set goals for the year and discussed our current projects and statuses and stuff. At the end of the meeting I asked, “so worst case scenario here but I see that 70% of our business is . If something happens and cuts our contract aren’t…

I’m on the Verge Of Quitting McDonalds
Sorry for formatting I'm in mobile. So I work at McDonald's. It took over 2 weeks for them to start my orientation, in which they ALSO didn't even tell me I was supposed to work that day. Then my trainer did what most modern parents do with their children, and sat me in the back room with an iPad with the McDonald's training videos playing. This wasn't supposed to happen. I was supposed to work the floor apparently, and learn other things. So I got speed trained on how to make fries and icecream, and how to use the POS, which while it stands for 'Point Operation System' it should still be Piece of Shit since the organization is god awful. Today, my 4th day (3rd day doing my actual job) and I had an 8 hour shift with one lunch break and two 10 minute breaks (it's supposed to…
So I need some advice. I’m in the US. I started a new job 6 months ago. 3 months ago I was told I would be getting hired soon and about a week later, I fucked up and cut myself on my hand that required going to the doctor and getting stitches and workers comp. Now, it’s illegal for companies to terminate you or otherwise punish you for injuring yourself. With my 6 months coming to a close and not hearing anything about getting hired, I got worried about my future prospects and went to my boss and asked him if I would be getting hired. He said no, and directly mentioned the safety incident. He then brought up issues that were reported to him from my trainer as other reasons for letting me go, but which were VERY flimsy at best and were all incidents that would’ve occurred early…
So my partner and I went out for our fifth year anniversary to a nice upscale Sushi and Thai place. We actually ate a few hours prior because we decided we just want to go for sushi and maybe a drink. The place is pretty nice and our waitress had just started at this restaurant just a couple days prior so she was still new and learning the ropes. She performed excellently giving us the perfect mix of checking in to make sure we were okay but giving us enough space for us to enjoy ourselves on our date night. She brought us a free dessert because I believe that's customary for celebration at that restaurant in chain and she had the manager come by to give us both a few ounces of sake. Our total bill was about $80 and some change and my partner and I were discussing…
