Hey all I wanted to vent. So I found out from my boss that they are refusing to give me a higher than average rating. It frustrates me since I've gotten the base level rating my entire time at the company. Since I've been at my job, I've done the following work not related to my core job duties: I've saved it from a lawsuit from the ADA for not having accessible training with transcripts and other core onboarding pieces. Revitalized our employee event and engagement committee to reduce workplace attrition for in-person and remote employees. Edited and authored a reference doc with the director of our department to be published on our website for clients. Collaborated with upper management to reduce sales errors to create accurate pricing for clients and set adequate expectations. Audited training documents and exercises to make sure they were up to date, accurate, and themed…
Stress leave
My doctor has put me on stress leave. I messaged my boss and told her that I’m off for the rest of the week and that I’ll send her my medical certificate. She sent me a text back asking if I’m okay. Knowing her, I take this as her fishing for details that I don’t particularly want to share, nor am I technically obligated to. How do I respond to her message? I don’t want to go into detail. It’s not really any of her business besides knowing I’m not well enough to work right now. For context: I started this job 2 months ago. I’ve had minimal training and it’s a completely different field/work environment than what I’m used to. I’m a legal assistant and the lawyer I’m assigned to is very particular about things, so most days I feel like I’m walking on egg shells and second guessing…
A little background: I work at a bar and this couple comes in every weekend and spends about five hours sitting at the bar. They eat, they drink, and they never leave until we call last call. Previous bartenders have told them they suck at tipping which is why they don’t care for them but the couple keeps returning. Now apparently this guys ex girlfriend used to pay for everything and would tip better but this new girlfriend sucks at tipping and so does he. This past weekend I saw him in the bar two times and on Sunday I had enough. Last weeks bill $73 – tipped $7 This weekends bill- $98 dollars. Tipped $9 Meanwhile, my barback treats him well. He gives him shots, food, etc and will take care of him first. So when we got tipped $9 for the 10% three weeks in a row I…
Professional Development Plan
I have to fill one of these out for work and don’t really know how to do so without showing my hand here. Long story short, the company has done some crap things to me and my wife over the years and it has killed any and all motivation I had to grow within the company. I still produce great work and exceed in all goals I have control over. My motivation for a great work product is my own and not attached to this organization. I work from home and the pay is enough to support my family, lifestyle and to live comfortably. Working from home has also allowed me so much more time with my kids, taking care of my home, and gave me the ability to workout in my home gym. I am not looking to leave, but I’m not happy at the job either. I expect…
work is my life – how to stop?
I have never posted here before so I thought I'd try. I am so tired. Constantly. Because of my full time job. I don't understand how 'normal' people do it, and probably have kids on top of it too. I am drained mentally and physically. My question is: how can I stop working and survive? Because right now working is literally killing me.
Hey everyone, I am curious as to what happens when an employer in California gets reported to the EDD for paying a worker under the table? I recently reported someone and am curious as to what is going to happen.
My job is killing me
I was supposed to get my salary today and ad I checked my bank account I had received just the half of it. Surprised, I talked to my manager to ask him about this. His response was that I'll get the other half in 15 days. No warning, no more explanation, no nothing. And this is just the last thing that happened to me, I've been exploited, had to BUY my own uniform and security equipment… And all this whiteout warning when I started working here… So tired
