As the title states, I have been bagholding this job that is requiring me to drive to Miami because the idiot who was managing it and lives in that area hurt himself doing something stupid. I live in Tampa and kind of don’t really want to be away from home this week due to the possibility of a hurricane. If I have to sand bag, board up my windows, or deal with water intrusion or damage to my home I prefer not to be 4 hours away. I’ve already expressed my thoughts to the project manager about the fact that sending me to this job in the first place is unreasonable, and now there is a hurricane coming later in the week. I emailed one of the owners, waiting on a response now. Let’s see how this goes lol.
Subway wanted me to work an unpaid trial
I went through two separate interviews for a crappy job at subway that pays slightly above minimum wage, was invited to a third interview which I accepted as my money was getting tight only to be told in the interview that it pays exactly minimum wage and that I would have to work a trial to be considered for the role, I accepted begrudgingly and asked about when he'd be in contact for my payment info, he said he wouldn't need it as it would be unpaid, I think my dumbfounded look caught his attention as he said “if that's a problem I need to know right now” obviously that was a problem and unsurprisingly I didn't get the job. Instead I will be using the time I would have had to spend working for free looking elsewhere for another job. Never again subway.
I have a job I really love. I like my boss, I like my project manager (a great friend, not just a work friend). The owners of the company are good people. I can take any day off I want, I can leave early if I need to. It's really a solid job. One issue. Pay. It's not great. So I went out looking for other ones. I've been here 10 years and I enjoy going to work which is rare, but the money is becoming an issue. I have 2 kids and a house and I need more. I went on some interviews. Got about 5 offers. Shocked. All for the same position at other companies. The lowest is 20k more..the highest is 25k more. I want to stay where I am. I don't need them to match the highest offer but I do need them to beat the…
My husband works for this company. One of his coworkers had a blow out. The tires and fenders were brand new on this truck. The owner of the company is making him pay for the fender and a new tire even though the guy had no control over the tire blowing out. I told my husband he might want to start looking for another job. This boss is constantly complaining about the cost of tires. If you keep trucks going 24 hours a day they need tires more often. They also need more maintenance. The mileage these trucks get is insane.
What I mean by this is should the government pass a law that requires all employer's have healthcare plans for all employees full or part time, and the cost of said plan be covered by the company. Of course their would have to be other stipulations of course but I think this system would help to drive healthcare cost down by shifting the burden onto the corporations, who are going to use their massive client list to force healthcare companies to lower their prices. Jus a thought though, what do y'all think would be some flaws with this system?
took an interview at staples
For a supervisor job in their most profitable and stressful department. They pay slightly above min wage while touting how successful and profitable the department is. Well tell me how does this make sense? No wonder you're hiring for the role! You're expected to help customers, run the whole print shop, and be a leader for slightly above min wage $. “Is pay negotiable?” “No” Corporations can burn.
