A few weeks ago, I submitted a complaint to the DoL against the company I'm still employed with for wage theft issues, specifically regarding unpaid travel time to certain jobsites. (I'm in the construction field). The call actually went better than I had hoped. HR expressed a slight bit of disappointment that I went over them on this issue, but I did explain my reasoning as to why I did what I did. Overall, I'm feeling optimistic about the resolution, whenever it comes. I'm not fearful of losing my job, because I already have a start date with a trades union company in my current field starting next month. I'm also not fearful of losing my job because since there's an investigation going into this issue, any kind of punitive action they might try to take would be seen as retaliation (unless I legitimately fuck up in a major way).…
Hey all, I have worked at 3 different grocery stores in the past 2.5 years. I was wondering whether it is worth unionizing at grocery stores. This is mostly out of curiosity, and isn't really going to effect any decisions because I am about to quit and don't intend to work at another grocery store (I learned it's not sustainable for me to hold a job that requires me to be on my feet because I have a fatigue disorder). At first, I worked at Safeway in Virginia, which paid $14/hr (the area was very close to Washington DC so the wage was higher due to high living costs, I think) which had $2/hr extra hazard pay because this was RIGHT at the beginning of COVID. Safeway is under a union but I never joined it. I don't think the union had much of a role in creating the hazard…
Hey everyone! Apologies if this is the wrong spot but here goes: This takes place in California. My wife was on an approved LOA for about two months. Her doctor said she shouldn't be in a work environment with 50+ people in a small room where she can barely move around. All the proper paperwork was turned in to the employer on time (doctor's note with above restrictions, etc). Her leave ended in June and she has been in contact with HR since a week before that date. HR has been pretty dodgy in answering her emails and they still have not found her a new position, even when my wife accepted that she may have to take a pay cut to move. It's now about two months since my wife's official return date; she is still without a new position and, on top of it all, hasn't been paid…
Stupid questions
Why do people come onto subreddits like r/antiwork , along with others, tell their story and then ask stupid questions? “My boss assaulted me, what do I do”. Call the police?????? “My boss pays me $1 a year”. So quit????? In other subreddits you’ll see “My wife has had 300 man gangbangs for 10 years whenever I’m in the bathroom, what do I do”. Divorce????? Is anyone else sick of these? Are they just farming?
So I’m diamond on delta and have to fly a shitload for the perks. I’m traveling from NYC to Italy tomorrow with my VP (I’m a senior director). It’s a 10 hour flight and I used a global upgrade to get the lay down seats and enjoy the ride Once he found out, he said “the company paid for that seat, so I’ll go ahead and take it. You can sit back in economy” The guy literally stole the seat I earned away from me. I need a new job.
Gotta love that feeling
When you have a new job lined up and your resignation letter typed up just wanting to be printed and signed. This job is the most stressful job I’ve had for a while which is solely down to system and processes and I’ve been wanting to quit for a few months now, finally have another job lined up and I’m just walking around enjoying the feeling that I’ll be resigning today and they are gonna be sooooo fucked
