I am a self employed consultant in a niche industry, and my biggest contract just expired, leaving me in a too much time not enough money quandary for the next 45 or so days. Another contract starts at the end of next month, but for today, I am without an income. Not good. Bills are coming. I saw this coming, as I have known for a while this contract was ending. So, I went to a local job fair a few weeks ago to score a quick joe job as a stop-gap and got a gig scrubbing toilets overnight at a local hotel / convention center to keep the bills paid, but its not a permanent thing and likely wont last but a paycheck or two. I start my first full shift in a few hours. I am romancing notions of the funnest, most effective ways to shirk at my…
If someone has money, and they are buying all this extravagant shit to flex, it’s because they are insecure about how they are perceived by others. They are worried about not being perceived as worthy by their peers. That’s obvious I guess, but it’s not even the bad part. The bad part is that it reveals their own value system. They are worried about how they are perceived because of the way they perceive others. These type of people look at you as beneath them. They do not, and will never, value you or anyone else. Theirs is a hollow, deceptive, and lonely existence. Don’t trust anyone trying to keep up with the Jones’.
I’ve had it with my boss. He’s out of the office for the next 3 weeks so I’m applying to other jobs like crazy all day, hoping to find a job that’ll get me an interview and possibly hire me before he comes back, so when he does I’ll give him My 2 weeks notice. If anybody works in remote work customer service whatever it may be and you know they’re hiring please let me know, this man is the worse boss you could have
Your a number not a person
Forewarning: my adhd brain doesn’t always connect the sentences the way they need to, and I can ramble while I lose my place and go off in a tangent to without any reason, abruptly bring my thought process back to correct train of thought. So I apologize if these happen as I post. Over the past 4 years I have worked for the same gas station company while moving around to different stores in my area. In the past two years the franchise side sold back to corporate, which tanked everything in employees eyes. During the two years I have had so many times of being shown I am not a person, I am just a numbered cog, and if I break down they will get someone to replace me with zero issue. I was injured my lower back in march 2021, fought with workers comp until I got an…
KFC trying to falsify hours.
I used to work at KFC like 2 years ago and stayed there for like 2 years. I was young and ignorant, but I was told by the general manager to come in at 8 (This happened at least every weekend) which I did. When I would come in I would be told not to clock in until 8:30 but would make me get the kitchen ready anyway or I wouldn’t have it ready in time. This happened to all the workers even my brother who worked there for a year and a half. My father wanted a part time job so he decided to work where his kids did because he had a lot of fast food experience. Fast forward a-little and my brother and I have quit, because you know fast food sucks. My father came to me recently and told me he caught the same general manager…
Basically what the title says. During the pandemic my insomnia came back full swing. I'm talking 5 days, zero sleep, auditory and visual hallucinations the whole nine yards. I would work typically through the first three or four days without sleep. It is important to mention here that I worked with children with mental and behavioral health issues. I was required to complete home visits, care plans, comprehensive assessments, cans assessments, eligibility assessments, as well as care plans and other more minor assessments that affect your care. If I'm being honest I would say in a 6-month period before we were able to get it under control I was probably calling out 1 to 2 days a month with doctors notes thorough explanations and supposedly the support and appreciation of my supervisor because we were still trying to hire three more care managers as well as one of ours being…
Is “Flexible working” just empty words?
Almost every big corporate globally is proclaiming that they offer flexible/hybrid work but we often see that in practice employees are pressured to show up at the office every day. What is the point of hybrid work if the work from office days are mandated by your managers (4 days a week most of the time)? Especially for jobs in the IT sector that can be done just as well if not better from home! And then they wonder why people keep running away from the org.
