Not sure if this is the right sub or not, let me know if i might be better off posting elsewhere. So basically title, but here is my situation. I interviewed at a company based on recommendation from some family members. I have several uncles cousins and my dad who work for this company. While being interviewed the management mentioned more than a few times that he is concerned because if there is a death in the family or something like that he will lose a significant portion of his workforce. To set the record straight, all of my family work in specialized technician positions, no forms of management. So nepotism isn't (shouldn't be) an issue. I would be equal to, not above or below any of the people I am related to. I am aware that discrimination based on family name is an illegal thing, but since they have…
Involuntary termination after quitting?
I put in my 2 weeks with my former job after receiving a job offer for another company. Spoke with everyone in leadership and ended on (in my opinion) amicable terms. They even invited me back to work with them if the opportunity arose. Now, about 2 weeks after starting my new job, I’ve received a letter from my former insurance company stating they are terminating my insurance immediately due to involuntary termination. It doesn’t really matter to me as I’m on a new insurance plan, but the verbiage threw me off? Can they say involuntary if I was the one who resigned?
I’m a Senior Ops manager for a large e-commerce company. I manage several different warehouses. I try my best to do right by the employee. I see many posts here that are text conversations between employee and manager about coming in on scheduled days off. I would never speak to the people that report to me like that lol. Where tf do they get/promote these people. I absolutely fucking hate work and working but gotta pay my bills and buy cosmetics in video games. Cheers.
Is this really a surprise?
I’ve lurked on this reddit for a long time, it’s taught me a lot about laws, rules, workers rights and the worth that even I have in the workforce. Too bad the airport I worked for didn’t see that… I used to work at an medium sized airport over the summer as a groundskeeper. I was alone working the grounds though I didn’t mind, it was a good summer gig was all. I cut the grass for the landing strip, around all the hangers and buildings and all over. I weed whacked around the areas I could not get into with the mower. I even checked lights along the landing strips and cleaned and fixed them is some we’re not clear or damaged. It was not super hard work, though it was hot out and working at the airport the planes there was a level of danger too it. There…
I worked for a regulated (medical device) company as QA/compliance/documentation/so many other roles. I had been there way too long, 15 years… I knew every system and product, I was the person people came to for help fixing their problem. This place has become incredibly toxic over the last 6 years when we were purchased by someone else and he brought in his friend to be our GM. They valued revenue over all else and through their own actions/words, developed a company wide culture that did not see QMS/Documentation/Compliance as value added. Needless to say I went to work every day feeling unheard, unvalued and unwanted. My boss and I kept finding issues but had no means of making people fix them. I won’t even go into details about how they treated my boss other than the fact she was a manager but not invited or included in any of…
I told them so…
Alright let's set the stage. Like so many others I started a new position in the midst of COVID lockdown. This company is so well known, thst 93% of the readers will have one of our products in their home. Anywho, back in May 22' the bosses all decided we needed to come back to the office and I warned them opening to fast would result in an influx of new COVID cases, especially as there was no mask requirement or adaptation of the hybrid return protocol. Since then, despite my continued warnings, 2 dozen people had contracted COVID between reopening May 2nd and 2 weeks ago. See despite my screaming that a gathering offsite was just a bad decision, the bosses held a function at a famous local park for the employees and their families. Well, I didn't go and cited that I did not want to attend a…
If you show that you can do the work of 5 people: It will be expected of you to do that much work from then on and if you do less at times it will be held against you! Your salary will never be the amount of 5 people, just 1. You may get a raise, but it will be tiny compared to the extra work you do. They will NEVER hire 4 more people to take up the slack. They won't appreciate you any more for all your effort. You will burn out your mental and physical health. You will live to work and have no life outside of work. So, if your employer tells you to do other people's jobs because there's not enough people hired, SLOW DOWN. Do 1/2 of your job and 1/2 of the other job. Document how much time it takes you do to…
