Long story short i got Covid really bad about 3 months ago and they wouldn’t let me come back until i provided a negative result. I kept testing positive and was off for 2.5 weeks without pay due to Covid. I had to use my week of pto to make ends meet. I put in a request (more than a month i advance) to take half a day off for a class i paid $400 for. My manager denied it and told me i don’t have any more time off. I told him I’m not asking to be paid and he said it doesn’t matter. I’m angry and it makes me not want to work here. I’ve never complained and have been working 7 days a week for 8 years and can’t even get a fkn half day off? They employ me but they think they own me. How should…

“Thankless” Work
This is my first post so sorry if I’m not doing this quite right. I (29F) am currently in the type of office job that is in the most hated department of our institution. Anyway, I’m always told it’s “thankless work” which would be one thing, but I’m afraid I might just be too sensitive for my job. It’s not that it’s just thankless, a lot of the time people are just downright hateful and mean when all I’m doing is what I get paid to do. I basically get told to “suck it…
FMLA for kiddo bonding

I want to do the same thing next year for my second, but in addition to the first three weeks, which would completely exhuast my available vacation time for the year, I want to take an additional two week unpaid period a month later, and then another two week unpaid period a month after that. Those would be really helpful to give my wife a break and get more kiddo time myself. We are lucky enough to able to afford this and it fits within FMLA rules, but because it's not a continuous block of time, and it fits under the child bonding category, the ability to break up the leave is not guaranteed by FMLA…it is the discretion of the employer. Welp I…
