I am in awe of the people who have worked in something other than their passion for decades. I'm 4 weeks into a retail job and the fact that some of them are part time teachers…kills my soul. If we can't pay our educators enough how do we expect children to grow into a world that won't even pay for their time? This is just a rant, no responses needed. But this world is so fucked up, I hope everyone has a good day.
I work and do things, these things often require calling into a clients call center to confirm settings and such. They are US based but are making their Immigrant employees not use their actual names and instead use things like: Red, Book, Golf, Love, Nice, Bird. This is unacceptable, employees with 'American' names use their name. I understand that coms are sometimes shoddy, but at least let them pick their own nickname based on their actual name, or Initials (That's what my company does) if your that concerned about not being able to convey who talked to who. It just rubs me the wrong way that a company is stripping people of their fundamental identifier. You got a 18 character name that is unpronounceable to a dunce like me? Sierra Papa Echo Lima Lima that shit out for me, its YOUR name I got time and respect for you.
How though?
Y'all be careful out here. Looks like we can crash the economy.
Contractor Refuses to Pay Me
Commissioned for 5k in work and the guy refuses to pay! I finished this project three months ago and spent about two weeks of my time working on this project. All I can say is that I’m considering legal action but am unsure if I can afford the legal fees. The Founder has stalled constantly and refuses to do anything. What should I do?
Hey. Is there anything I can do about a space invading work colleague who has no consideration about others and has had covid 4 times and keeps making people ill by coming into work with it. I have a heart condition that prevents me having the vaccine and 2 other people have heart conditions at work as well but she keeps essentially risking our lives irresponsibly. Our health is worth more than a few days of her pay. I'm Worried every time I'm at work now because of her she's recently made over 10 staff members ill just this time alone. Thanks.
What would you do ?
I’m in a career field which requires lots of documentation. In fact it’s one of the main parts of the job. I just started at a new company. Company procedure calls for a 10k minimum threshold for documentation. My manager has set a zero dollar threshold for me specifically. Looking at other peoples files it appears I’m the only one this applies too. I’m the only person under her, but my processing time will be measured against others who have to do next to no documentation requirements. It is high volume, and I will likely have to work lots of extra hours to keep up. Seems like I’m screwed. Do I try to just go back to my old company? As for now my plans to try to make it a year before transferring within the company or leaving as to not take a career set back. I don’t mind…
I was hauling hay for a land owner here in Texas didn’t pay me for three days under the table he almost got arrested yesterday because of suspended license and unsecured load that hit another car he talked the trooper out of arresting him I decided to quit because he was yelling at me and the new coworker today
tl;dr Do you know of any best practices to engage in time theft at a job with billable hours? I want to engage in some meaningful time theft and “quiet quit” my day job. The challenge is that this is a job where we bill clients at 15 minute increments. I typically bill 25-30 hours in a week, and devote 12.5 hours to email and Slack. (8.5 hour day). Does anyone have ideas on how to do less at work, but create the illusion of work on time sheets? The best ideas I have are to say I was working on business development activities (internal hours) and, obviously, to fluff up the amount of time a work project actually took (billable hours). In general, a strategy I have is to be more active on slack and more responsive on slack, to create the illusion of work/activity, and to remind people…
I would like to request that the following response statement be filed added to the records for this claim. This has been a really eye opening process for me. I enjoyed working for (company) and thought the management and staff were supportive and committed to the well-being of its employees. It has been extremely disappointing to find out, over the process of this sexual harassment claim, that that is not actually true. I felt comfortable enough with M (COO) to discuss it personally with him. His response was incredibly belittling, saying things like “Since this isn't too egregious, there's no need to blow this out of proportion” before dismissing me. There seemed to be no accountability for what happened and the focus was on what T did right (not continuing to ask about it). There was no compassion or empathy for the discomfort, stress and shame of the situation. When…
