So my ex-boss just fired me because I asked to move to part time for the remainder of the year. I had been working at this place for 8 years and just wanted a small break since I could afford to. Things had started to go downhill for a while and I thought giving us both a break would help. Well he thought I went part time to work somewhere else. He texted me and said “I know you went PT to work at X”. His “proof” was that that business is owned by my roommate. Also he used an email verification site, but didn't know how to read the info. So I defended myself, things got heated, no blows exchanged but he didn't want to hear the truth. He also tried to make me sign a document that said I would not pursue unemployment, so I ripped that up…
Hear our teachers too
This is my conclusion
You should go make a business where you pay everyone whatever you consider a fair wage is. Lead by example.
Go back to business school

TL;DR: Got a job in a toxic environment for double my old salary, but I've been having problems with my payments and don't feel like getting up in the morning, as I feel everything but happy. So, a bit of background is in order, I'm from Brazil and I landed what was supposed to be a great job in IT, for my level anyways. I went from making $360/month working as an entry-level support analyst to $730/month being a fully fledged desk side support for a multinational company (Outsourced, but still a great position). It was all great till work actually started. I had a 1-day period of Knowledge Transfer with the previous DSS (which was unaware I was his replacement). He tried his best to show me everything, even compiled a little .txt document with important links and procedures, but eventually, I showed up for what was supposed…
Hello I am curious where if you are in Ohio in the USA where you can report a business that labels employees as 1099 independent contractors and requires them to hold independent contractor licenses but treats you like a regular w-2 employee ? Example – independent contractors choose their own schedule, and rate of work in my industry (salon) Owner does not pay taxes on employees or pay into Medicaid ect and makes us do all the tax withholding But she treats us like normal employees. Choosing our rates. Schedules. Making us do tasks outside of clients. Ect This is her way of not paying taxes on her employees but still trying to reap all the benefits of having employees Where can I report this ?
Sick and my boss is asking my symptoms
I have a terrible cold today where it hurts to even move. I told my boss I can’t come in today, I’ll get him a doctors note, prep everything for the person covering for me. He’s asking what my symptoms are because they’re short staffed & he doesn’t know what who he’s gonna find for me. Is he just an qsshole or should I just “pull myself up”?
