sucks I know work does
Finally leaving my toxic job
After months of misery and not seeing eye to eye with my boss, my boss put me on a “performance improvement plan” even though I have rave reviews from my colleagues and customers. My company told me I could either try out the plan or just take a package and leave. Taking the package and getting the hell out. I already have some interviews lined up for new jobs anyway. I just can’t wait to be done with my boss and our shitty systems and processes. I’ll never let a job make me feel this way again.
So I live in Florida and work for a company that prior to 2020 never embraced working from home. In the past if we closed for a hurricane we were not expected to work since we couldn’t come into the office. Now that everyone is able to work from home we’re expected to still log our 8+ hours the next two days despite the fact that schools and daycares are closed and many of us may not have power. I love work from home and am glad my company adopted it but seeing it used this way is pretty scummy.
Surprised Pikachu Face If you’re only going to hire enough of us to barely cover the shifts, then there’s going to be coverage issues when someone doesn’t come in. The mega-rich CEO can’t be sending out emails telling employees about how important vacations and travel are and then a few months later start cracking down on overtime when we’re barely staffed adequately as is. If they wanted to solve this problem (aka exploit more of our labor) not they could make more of the employees salaried. There’s no bonus, No commission here here so outside of having a second job OT is the only way to get a few extra bucks.
Took a week off because? Fuck it.
Took a week off of work because I haven’t had a week off in 4 years. Felt pressured to lie about it because my company is toxic af. So I lied now I have a week off. I do B2B sales. I kill it every year and have made more money than I can spend in these 4 years. Why do I feel bad
