So sick of companies having so much control over every day of my life. Mandated overtime is the worst thing ever. Cant even enjoy the 2 days im supposed to have off because its the “bEgiNNing oF tHe FiScaL YeAR”. No raises for 2 years. Revolving door of people leaving because noone want to work the weekends yet they keep pushing it. Understaffed. Whats even the point any more?
As title says, trying to get any forklift driver without a driving licence to get one. Apparently there was an accident in another branch where a forklift driver hit a customers car. Not a big crash, just a little tap. So the customers insurance asked if the forklift driver has a licence to drive on the road. Not sure why, I would have thought it irrelevant since we're on private property. I drive a motorcycle only, in my country its a separate licence, not sure about anywhere else. On a car licence here you are automatically allowed to drive a tractor and this is what the job wants, trying to say we need a licence with tractor on it to do my job as a forklift driver, 3 years after I started. Sounds a bit fishy to me, the only reason I can think of them doing this is could…
Boss bs about quiet quitting
A couple weeks ago during a department meeting, a coworker of mine asked about the vacant position in our department and if they’ve found any good candidates. The position has been open for over two months. My boss let everyone know that they are having trouble getting applicants. She added that it’s because people are wanting to work remote and are avoiding places not offering such. I made a comment about the great resignation and lots of companies are having the same difficulties. She said “people are quitting their jobs for these full time remote positions and it’s really just an entitlement problem”. Without missing a beat, I said “welp, guess you can call me entitled then”. She looked stunned and tried to back peddle a little. I have a few interviews lined up in the next week and I fantasize about the day I can quit.
Still in shock m8.
I gave my notice.
Thanks for the encouragement with my last post. After a little more than 10 years, it was time. New job is both a promotion and pay increase! The emotional part of me feels guilty for leaving all of the things that go along with being a single point of failure up in the air. They tried to counter offer me, but I was able to say no.
Background: (in U.S) A local haunted house was hiring and I thought it would be a fun job for extra money. I went to their job orientation and learned the following: They discussed pay and said it was $ 16 an hour and you were paid 30mins before open and after close (to get into/out of costume / makeup). BUT you had to show up 2 hours before opening???? And that wasn't paid. So example let's say it opens at 8pm and goes till 12 am You have to be there at 6pm until who knows when. But you're only paid to be there from 7;30 pm to 12:30am. They said it was because we were “actors” and getting “performance pay” Next they discussed the next meeting where we would come back to the office and get cast as a character and fill out our tax paperwork / i-9. This…

Ban stock buy backs, please
Corporations can use their money in 3 ways: 1. Reinvesting 2. Paying dividends to shareholders 3. Buying back stocks They do number 3 to jack up their stock price. If that gets banned, they will be forced to do the other two. If they reinvest, that means more money for their employees. If they do dividend payments, that's still a benefit for anyone, including employees, who hold stocks in the company. Please for the love of God, I hope stock buybacks are banned. But they won't because corruption corporate lobbying, so at least I hope it gets limited.
I did the maths..
If you exclude the two owners, 21.43% of all staff cried at work on Friday at the firm I work at. It was… uncomfortable…but hey, 85.71% of all staff are looking for a new job. Apparently people don’t like it if you just change everything about role, place of work, and conditions
