Every good paying job I’ve had, I never actually had an interview. It’s happened twice(internship and first job out of college). Just wondering if anyone else has had this experience.
“First Day” – A Work of Fiction
For all of us office drones…I hope you enjoy, “Hi there Ava, I’m Charlie, your office ambassador! Wow, you don’t look nervous at all. That’s good…no, really, I mean it.” “Are most people nervous?” “Yeah, I guess. First days, you know?” “I know.” “Oh, ok. Lots of first days then?” “No more than normal, I don’t think. How long have you been here?” “28 years.” “Wow! Retirement’s coming up, then?” “Ahhh, no. Should we get started on the tour?” “Lead the way.” “This is your space. I know it looks like all the others, but you can make it your own. You can have two hanging things, and two things that go on the desk. Picture, stress ball. No plants, unless they’re fake. Did you bring a mug? We have a Keurig downstairs. No mug? That’s good, actually. They want you to use the steel ones, did you get one…
I literally just started a job two weeks ago. It was my third day working alone as security in an empty building with some old man. He was talking about some weird stuff and randomly started telling me about his sex life, how he hadn’t had sex in five years etc. He started talking about murders and stuff at one point so I mentioned that I ended up getting dragged into a bad situation, a karaoke bar that turned out to be a cover for human trafficking. I guess he took that as an invitation to talk about his experience going to sex clubs and just went on and on about having a lot of sex when he was young. I told my boss, and I really feel like I shouldn’t because it became this messed up situation. They sent the guy home while we were both at work. I…
a wee reflexion
When a businesspersonlooks only for his/her interest is a winner and a good businessperson. When a worker looks for his/her interest is a dangerous one and a bad worker
New Programs, Same Pay
I am the Scheduling Analyst and Workforce Manager (two titles, two people's jobs) at my job. We recently got a new program to build out schedules and see projections, whatnot. The management has assumed I'd be happy to build this all out, report on, and present my findings about the new system. I'm a little shocked that the folks above me who get paid a generous amount (60K, 90K and 125K)haven't spearheaded the project and presented to ME how THEY want things. This company has really shown me that they do not inspire and lead, they delegate and pressure you. They just expect you to pick up new projects with no pay increase. I expect people who get paid way more than me to do the grunt work but who am I kidding??? Of course they're going to schlep off the work. That's what middle management does.
Have you heard anyone mention this?
More and more people are talking about a potential railroad strike (finally!), but is anyone talking about what might happen if the railroad workers are forced, by congress, to follow the PEB recommendations?
Placed on probation
Just curious how to proceed. I was placed on probation by my company today, but wasn't given anything to sign or otherwise acknowledge that the probation has been filed. Do I have any recourse against my manager for not documenting the probation?
So I work for the State Gov and have been in the same job for about 5 years. Recently I was suddenly transferred to another shop and my schedule has gone from me being to able to pick up my kids at a reasonable time to now being unable to pick them up at all. My wife works evenings so this is a really difficult position they put me in despite knowing my parental obligations. I’ve voiced my situation with my management and have gotten no accommodation. Is there labor laws about this or something I can do? I’m looking for a new job ASAP, but a state agency shouldn’t be able to torpedo your career by making you unable to care for your kids. This is also in Arizona. TLDR; Typical boomer boss moved me to a impossible position because I resent his bullying of over employees. Now I…
question about clocking out
