I’m so miserable going into work bc of certain people working there. Good thing is I don’t work everyday and different people work everyday, so some days I truly go into work happy bc the people who i don’t like aren’t there, and I’m not anxious or stressed or don’t want to be here. The thing is holiday season is coming up and I work at a retail store that everyone comes to for gifts and it gets packed, so chances of me working with these certain people goes up as my manager will be scheduling everyone a whole lot more. I’m trying to train my brain into that “fake it til you make it” mentality as we go into holiday season (it hasn’t fully started yet as I’m still working one day a week when I have four days when I’m available). So how do I create that mentality?…
I live in a out-skirting neighborhood to a pretty decent sized city.. yesterday i noticed signs up in front of the mcdonald’s by my house that said starting pay was at $13/hr. On my way to work, I passed another mcdonald’s (this one more inner city) that had signs up advertising starting pay at $11 per hour.. Mind you, this mcdonald’s is maybe 15-20 minutes from the one paying $2 more… Both within the same city limits. Is this like a new managerial decision that corporate doesn’t handle? Can the wages be selected an individual restaurant level.. i’m curious?
Job Asked Me to Buy My Own Monitor
I work from home on thinkpad laptop. In the summer, myself and a few others were trained on technology testing software and when running through the simulations, I experienced a few tech issues in regards to capturing the entire screen when attempting to show malfunctions. I reached out to the team and was told this occasionally malfunctions and they are going to send me a second monitor which may assist. Fast forward to today- I still have not received a second monitor (this company sometimes takes a very long time to send products so it did not phase me) but I was assigned a tech testing case on top of my usual workload. I reached out and said I would be happy to do the testing but I wanted to make sure they remember my IT issues because I was told if the entire screen was not captured it could…
CEOs cutting jobs, as a heads up
Justice is served at my old job
So I used to be an assistant store manager for a little known company called “Walgreens”, when I got the promotion our district manager (The beginning level of corporate positions) got much more involved in my development. He gave me great advice like “Find someone to blame or I'm going to blame you” and “If they're too tired from work they won't have time to find new jobs” or “You push them to make it happen, if they break you replace them.” and my favorite “If you can't make it work I'll find some one who will.” Just such a lovely man. Anyway, I was talking with an old co-worker of mine from back then who still works there, she mentioned they'd gotten a new district manager, I asked what happened to the old one and I was told that he had an accident while swimming so he had to…
Basically corporations are convinced that they are having to compete for employees and consequently raise wages and benefits because 47 million people quit their jobs in 2021. And we were working from home, this made it easier to find and interview for jobs on company time. They don’t like having to compete for employees, so the solution is to ensure you don’t have time to look for another job by putting you back in the office. The least they can do is make it as inconvenient as possible, that way you stay stuck and they can continue suppressing your wages instead of having to compete for your eventual replacement. It all makes sense now.
