I'm not sure if this is the right subreddit so if this doesn't belong here please point me in the right direction. My girlfriend worked for a private school in Illinois. She has bad asthma and had been to the ER twice already this year because of that. She told them about that before she started. A couple of months into her job she had to go to the ER again on Friday 7/8/22 because she couldn't breath. She was sick the previous day 7/7/22 with an upper repertory infection, she called work both days before she was supposed to start to let them know she was sick. She followed up with emails the following Sunday (7/10) and Monday (7/11) letting them know ahead of time she was still sick and not able to work. She also put in her two week notice at that time. They never responded…
Lately, to combat the soul sucking ways of capitalism, I have been listening to standup comedy while at work. It helps hearing people put into words what I am feeling. Most of what I have been listening to comes from the 1990s to early 2000s. The content speaks true of today, meaning not a thing has changed in at least 30 years. One comedian, above all, has put the consequences of capitalist culture into words better than all others… George Carlin Below are some of his best anti-capitalist, anti-nationalist, anti-consumerist statements about American culture that ring true today. TRIGGER WARNING: Disaster, Eating disorders, Obesity, Suicide, Abortion, Drug use, Homelessness, etc. Carlin Says things in an offensive way as a part of his act and personality. I can promise you when he is saying something offensive, it is leading towards a point about how American Capitalist Culture has created these problems.…
I thought this was some good food for thought. I wish we could encourage employers to follow plans like this, but as my father said, “the disposition was to pay people as little as possible.” Sad that corporations are blocking the few managers who care from making a difference. 🙁
I have a director that is majorly into micromanaging. He likes all of his supervisors and managers to make daily reports of what they did. I’m not exactly a “supervisor” but I technically still fall into that category. His latest complaint is that he hates the layout I have for my report. It’s an excel sheet with color-coded categories, then a description of what I did. He tells me he wants it done differently and that I give too much information, that he doesn’t need to know every little thing. My report was fine for the whole year and a half I’ve been doing it, but of course it’s only NOW a problem. He couldn’t even give me an idea on how he thought it should be formatted! He knows my job is different from the actual supervisors, so I can’t use their template. I swear he just thrives on…
When I was looking for another job so I could quit on my boss I had an interview at a paper plant. After burning up 2 good hours on my day off sitting through the guy's entire pitch he hit me with the immortal line. He asks “it seems like nowadays nobody wants to work anymore, what makes you want to work here.” He had already said some questionable shit earlier in the interview/tour, and a lot of red flags were going off. One of them was the fact that the fire alarm went off because there was so much dust in the air, and the biggest one being that he lied on the job posting about the pay and was only offering $18/hour when I was actively working a job that was paying me $32/hour. So I mentally threw my hands up decided to just tank the interview. I…
Horrible Management
My previous job was horrible. My coworkers were amazing but management was horrific. They would lie about the stupidest thing wether it was us being able to working from home or Covid issues, they even lied about pay and bonuses. Due to their negligence I got Covid. I was out for two weeks the entire time being harassed about when I’d be returning. No concern for my health or anything. Even after I was hospitalized for 2 days. 2 people from Human Resources and two managers harassing me everyday. I couldn’t sleep I couldn’t relax. I wasn’t being paid. I was just out of work for two weeks. I got my negative Covid test yesterday but after being harassed about when I will be Returning to work. I decided I WILL NOT be returning Due to the fact I got Covid from them allowing management to come in to the…
