No remote work, should I leave?
Hello there, First time posting. I'm 26 and working in Belgium in the public sector for an administration. I'm a fullstack dev, doing .NET/Blazor, people using these technologies are rare here. I win 2k€ net/month, beside 2k6€ net of prime, we have no advantage. I have a fixed-term contrat ending the end of the month after 2 years, and they will offer me a contrat for indefinite period (sorry I'm French so don't know the correct terms). I have like 4 big projects currently in dev or maintenance, two of them must be over by the end of the year. We are a small team of 3 devs, so if I leave they will be in a giant mess, as they are not as good as I am (one working on old tech, the other one has done like 1 bugged project in 2 year), and they won't be able…
My brother who's just been with the company for 5 months has just been laid off yesterday. He was doing a great job and found critical problems in the IT system, which led to the company correcting it's mistakes. Then, he caught covid 2 months ago and influenza a month ago, debilitating his day-to-day life. Yesterday, they told him they were letting him go, but that he still had to work during the notice period. They literally emphasized this point, that he was to work throughout the notice period. According to my now spiteful brother, they phrase-dropped this several times. And he even got told by his manager that he had to attend meetings. All I can say is, fuck this really. EDIT: He only took 2 days off in the 5 months he was employed. He was also forced to cut a day by half for missing a morning…

It’s an “Integrity” Thing.
where’s the jail time for wage theft?
Trying to settle an argument with my boss who wants to give me a promotion……. I have 2 degrees, been through 5 jobs across 4 states, commanding more salary on each switch. This is definitely just because I am lucky, correct? He definitely should give the job to anyone at random, is my point. It's all luck, I shouldn't even be considered more than you guys.
All I need is a chair/ableism rant
I dunno if this would apply since I'm complaining about the lack of work I get, but it is still a horrible system that we have- mostly the idea that sitting down is seen as being lazy. This isn't even specifically a disability thing. So I'm physically disabled, but in a way that's not obvious right away. I had a stroke when I was sixteen and now I need to take pills that will make me unable to do some of the things I used to be able to do before. Specifically stand and walk for more than ten minutes without needing a break. What happens if I can't sit down when I need to is that I'll start getting headaches, start sweating and I'll start shaking. Eventually if I'm on my feet for too long my legs will give out and I'll collapse, and I'll still have the headaches…
