that's the whole post + fuck elon musk
I worked from home for two years and I genuinely missed the interactions I had with my coworkers. I got rather lonely. Just wildly spit balling here- ( assume this is for a company who truly cares about living conditions & employees ) what if we convert apartment buildings to office spaces, where employees could get cheap priced housing and work from home. Employees who don’t want a house (and or cant afford it) could pay a small price for rent and then there could be a separate building on site for employees who either have a home or want to work in the office. ( with the option of working from home still available ) There could be on-site laundry units, gym, pool. All the amenities you’d get with an apartment complex. Imagine being able to walk to work or even just staying in your apartment and working from…
Medical exemption for back to office?
Has anyone here sought a medical exemption for back to office? We went from fully remote to 2x/week and my boss just told us friday evening that we’re back in 3x/week now. I have a feeling they’re gonna keep pushing until we’re back in full time. I have autism, and my boss and supervisor know this. My supervisor also checks in with me about how I feel about being back in the office and I tell her the truth: it’s fucking exhausting to mask like that all day and I usually end up going straight to sleep after work. I’m considering asking my doctor for a note to stay at 2x/week. Has anyone else here done something like this?
I interviewed for this job and the owner of the company had to fly people from another state due to having ZERO managers. He gave me a reason for every manager and most of them were fired.. For the record, I'm not taking the job 🤣 I turned it down gracefully. But my recruiter would like to know why I declined. I didn't give a specific reason. Thoughts?
antiwork movies
Hello fellow antiworker do you have some antiwork movies suggestion for me.
Love/Hate relationship with Anti-work
MY LOVE: Thank God Almighty that Antiwork exists. Seriously its the resource to go to hear about the True Deal. Exploited workers, exposed corrupt bosses, and why we're not having a square deal. There's some poignant and funny memes too. Boomers are just making excuses, although it has been pointed it it's really the rich who's naking the excuses, and it isn't really generational. A lot of percentage points goes to them though, as they benefited the most from a post-war economy. MY HATE: …no solutions? No out-of-the-box- thinking? Where's the organization, the selflisness for our fellow man? “I couldn't care less about my coworkers = “F u, I'm tired. Every man/woman for themselves.” R/AmeriExit or whatever offers solutions. R/CareerAdvice offers solutions. Does Anti-work absolutely have to exist as an exposé of bad work environments? Can't it help people too? MIXEDFEELINGS: what's so good at being American? R/Jobs = “USA…
While talking to my dad today he brought up how nobody wants to work. From what I could find out the company does actually pay decent wages, although I don't know how much that gets in his area, nor do I know what the work conditions are like. But the thing that stood out to me the most was when he mentioned how the workers don't seem to appreciate what the boss does for them, and the example he gave was that the boss would go and spend $600AUD on 6 wagyu steaks for the crew and have a BBQ. I should have said something to him but I was sort of in shock and the conversation changed. But “nobody wants to work”……. Edit: I forgot to add that he also mentioned that although the pay is decent after a little while, the starting rate was just above minimum…
Quit today or work it out?
Hello antiwork friends, I’m currently writing this from my bullseye themed employers back room. Thursday I called my boss to put in a request for August 8-12th off to be out of town. They told me I would have to submit a request on the time clock (which is only at work) but that they should be able to honor it. I usually never work on weekdays but I work two this week (and I am already having to cancel a vacation because I’m supposed to be weekends only) so I figured it’d be a good idea just to update my availability for that specific week. Fast forward to today, as soon as I clock in, I get written up for submitting an unapproved time out request. A boss in a higher position told me she’s never seen someone ask for so much time off in such a short notice.…
The small company i work for which recorded a turnover of approx 2 million over the last accounting year is experiencing an exodus and is now in turmoil. Over the last few months all the young people (under 25) have left and replacements can’t be found. Even if you work hard as a young person what can you actually show for it? Salaries are low and the cost of living is so high. Buying a house is practically impossible if you’re single which is becoming increasingly common as a young person because no one is settling down due to inflated egos and unlimited options seen in dating apps. What doesn’t help as well are the boomers controlling the workplace through horrible micromanagement and still preaching the unflexible 9-5. I think they’ll be huge recruitment issues over the next few years, especially in offices and we’ll see more people venturing into…
