Boss making me come in despite telling him about my DnD meeting with friends weeks in advance…

Hey y’all so recently I was inspired by Stranger Things to play some Dungeons and Dragons with my wholesome little nuggies (what I call my group of G’s). Told A-Hole boss about this sometime in late May and now that the quest is happening tomorrow he’s saying I have to come in.. what the flippity flip?!?! M (19) and wondering what the recourse is here. Do I quit? I don’t want to miss the event! I gotta get running up that hill! Haha thank you r/antiwork

Don’t want to be bothered outside of work.

If you have a iPhone turn on auto focus. I understand you can simply ignore the text and calls. But auto focus makes it to where certain calls get sent straight to voicemail and notifications from certain people don’t pop up. You will see the text but all the iPhone people who shouldn’t bother me outside of work see it says “ notifications silent” Focus has made my boundaries very clear.

Shop Supervisor for Goodyear

This happened about a month ago but I figured I’d share it here. I currently have an all right job, pay is all right but the icing on the cake is that I only work 3 days a week but get paid for a 5 day week. However, really want to get out of this job and look for a more long term career. Fast forward to that next morning… I see a listing for Shop Supervisor for Goodyear to do full service on semis. Hm, I have about two years of diesel experience so I give it a shot. BOOM! Landed an interview. Mind you, on the application it says “shop supervisor”. Below that it showed the average pay for this position and it was significantly more than my currently job. Whatever. I show up to the job interview at the scheduled time. I shit you not I get…

I’m so burnt out where I am, I want to pursue my passions more than anything.

First time poster! So I work at a steel mill as a heavy equipment operator.( Mindless factory work tbh) I’ve been talking to my wife for about 2 years I’m just how burnt out I am at the place and want to pursue my passions that are cooking, and computer programming. My only issue is that I make too much money to leave. I know chefs don’t really make much and it takes a lot of schooling to do computer programming. ( which I’m hoping to start back up in the spring) I just don’t know what to do, because most days I’m legit dreading going there because I’m just wasting away, but I really have no other choice. I’m 28 and I feel like I’ve just wasted 7 years of my life that I’ll never get back to that place.

Told I can complain, but just to the boss man

Throwaway for reasons. I, like many of you on this sub, have been frustrated at the increasing cost of living while seeing seemingly less and less money coming in. At this point with two jobs I’m netting negative. It’s hard. I’m tired all the time. And I’m tired of pretending it’s easy or right. I’ve been asked directly how I’m doing and I’ve been honest. I’ve heard from people on my team they feel much the same way, which made me feel a sense of trust and camaraderie with my cohorts. I’m sure you all see where this is going. I got called into a meeting and told that my coworkers are complaining about me complaining to them, that I’m fomenting dissension among the ranks so to speak. Not just coworkers, former as well. It felt like such a stab in the back. The tiny bit of trust I had…

What are you supposed to say when asked “Is this your dream job” or “Why do you think you should work for us”?

I have been on countless minimum wage interviews, things like waiter, phone customer service, cashier, etc. And ALWAYS, the interviewer asks the same question: Why do you think you should work for us? Why do you need this job?, or similar. Am I supposed to say “Yes, I've always wanted to say NEXT CUSTOMER, PLEASE 50 times a day”? “It's always been my dream to speak with entitled Karens who disrespect me like I'm a dirty rag and not being able to say nothing back to them”? “I need the money my brother”? Do interviewers actually expect something when talking about a 6€/hour job? What could I tell them?

My workplace is rolling out Jamf MDM. Some background info: we use our personal iPhones for work. For this we get about 55$ a month. Does anyone know if I should be concerned about my privacy with this?

People will only revolt when they are uncomfortable

To think that America is at its breaking point is a lie. We are still relatively very comfy compared to what history shows. I see a lot of posts with frustration, but thats all itll amount to, just people venting on a polarized site like reddit. Truth is, if anything is going to change, it wouldnt be until the stores are out of food or the dollar becomes meaningless. Just like Germany after suffering from hyperinflation post WW1, and everytime that happens its always the working party that takes control and turns the country fascist. Happened in France too with Napoleon, and exactly the same thing will happen in America when food or money gets depleted. Make no mistake, there will be major reform once the point of no return is crossed, and i dont think we are ready for it.

They tried to gaslight me into quitting

I got a summer job as a cashier when I had just turned 18. The manager initially seemed really nice but started showing her true colors shortly after. I was not allowed to have my phone on me, sit down nor talk to my coworkers. They did not give me anything to do while there were no customers. So I would stand at the register, waiting for time to crawl by. All while I could hear my manager cackling with her work bestie all the way from the other side of the store. At one point my manager asked me if I wanted to quit, because the store had not been as busy as anticipated this summer and they didn't need me. I refused. I needed the money and would not be able to find another job in the middle of summer break. I signed a fulltime contract which ended…
