Corrections officers have become so difficult to hire and retain that robots may end up doing the job.
resources for faking a Dr note?
I am not sure if this is the right place to put this. I just got the most high paying job I've ever had. The last almost 3 years have been an incredible struggle trying to maintain financial security. For that reason I have no money to drive into work the required 3 days in office, or to pay for parking, as my employer only pays $80 a month for parking and the building is in the center of a busy metropolis. I took a very big risk and pretended that I sprained my ankle last night. It seems that HR and my boss are okay with me working from home. I am only planning to work from home until I can afford to drive again, which will be on the 15th when I get paid. However, they are wanting a doctor's note. Obviously I didn't go to the doctor.…
Hello everyone, I am writing this as an opportunity to vent. I can't express enough how upset I am by this whole situation. I am sorry this is long I just need an outlet to let this out. I am a recent graduate with an Associates Degree and got the opportunity of a life time. I was offered a job at an event company in a huge hotel in Boston to be the AV Operations Manager, $70K a year. I got my degree in communications with a focus in film/production. Besides that I was the Assistant Director and Cast Manager at my colleges theatre for 4 years. I thought it was a little odd they offered me the job when I have barley any experience but pushed that aside to be excited for my future which would be able to start sooner thanks to the more than generous pay. The…
Some prior info: I am certified in several coding languages and software programs, and I studied at a state technical school for a 4-year IT diploma (not a degree, but most of the work that a degree would require and is considered by many employers as an equivalency) because I can't afford to go to college. I'm currently employed as a coding teacher for a school system. The hours are minimal, but the pay is great, so I was looking for a similar job to do to make some extra money. I applied to teach at a coding-specific meant for kids and teens for an extracurricular activity, because I am knowledgable with the material and teaching is my passion, and I have experience doing the exact same thing. Listing said $20/hr which I wasn't thrilled about, especially with my experience and credentials, but beats the alternative of being broke. Hiring…
Why won’t anyone think of the rich?

I am an engineer that gets screwed by managers and bosses because I actually do real work. And doing real work translates into sucking at office politics. The more you work, the more problems you confront. The more problems you face, the more you get associated with problems. Your bosses don’t know shit. Your manager are dumb as a rock. But if you are the one working, then you provide them with something to work on – You. They get free content for future meetings to pose questions to you, place deadlines on your own work, and hold you accountable for not reaching that deadline. You become a subject of their internal cliquish gossip of how you don’t work because you missed on a deadline, effectively placing a target on your back. Others take credit for your work but blame you if shit goes down. Eventually you are fodder that…
When I got fired from my job 3 1/2 years ago, I made the choice to live my life free all forms of wage slavery and to take back my personal power and live my life to the fullest. I haven't looked back and I'm not going back. I'm not from money like the big billionaires but I learned that taking a risk and walking away is NOT just for the rich but it's for everyone including me. Walking away and walking into the unknown was the best thing I EVER could have done and the best decision of my life. 3.5 years later I can say with great conviction that I am NEVER going back to work for someone else. The only work I will do is work that benefits me and me only. I also will NOT be protesting the system or fighting the corruption in government. Fuck…
I get so tired of these leadership meetings where they really prove how little they think of employees. They spent half the meeting arguing about “employee gifts” for CS Week. They allocate an oh-so-generous $20 per employee for the year for gifts to show management’s appreciation. The whole topic revolves around how our department is over-budget and how they can get by as cheap as possible, talking about giving travelers a cheaper gift than full time employees, because in the words of our director “travelers aren’t really our employees, so the agency they work with should be doing stuff for them, not us.” Talk about trying to cause distain and animosity between the workers… It’s all so nauseatingly embarrassing. One of our managers kept trying to explain that the travelers should be treated equally because they’re still doing the same work. Then the sea of supervisors saying they’ll give up…
