I got yelled at yesterday for leaving at 4:55 (see my most recent post). Today I’m being a good boy and staying the full 8 hours. The problem is, I haven’t had a single task to do since 3pm. But as long as my bosses maintain power by enforcing a pointless schedule to waste my time, I guess all is right in the world
$21 hourly for IT in California??? UFB
Now I realize that recruiter types are just spamming stuff out, but I got an email saying I was a “Great fit!” and so I sent dude an email saying “Hey I am currently making $30 can you beat that?” He comes back with max rate is $ 21. Now unless you're living in the sticks in a cabin you built yourself, there is NOWHERE in California that this is a living wage. Plus anyone with decent IT skills is not going to work for that. What world are these companies living in, that they think they can get people to work for crap wages like this?
Ain’t we all.
…I’m not paid hourly, coworkers don’t depend on me getting there on time, and I can work as late I want as long as I at least put in 8 hours? This shit makes no sense. I was 5 minutes late today and my boss told me I need to do a better job of getting there on time. Bro I’m paid commission and consistently work 10 hour days. Why tf do I need to be there at 6:30am on the dot? To make you happy? I work WAY more hours than is expected of me in a week and it blows me away he actually told me to be there on time. Technically I only have to work 6:30-2:30. But I’m rarely ever done for the day until 4pm at least, and I’m always at work by 6:40 latest yet he’s all hung up on 5-10 min? Fuck out…
Spoiler alert for all of the leftists: trade unions probably have more Trumpists in them than your non-union workplace. I thought joining a union was escaping a lot of the bullshit, but nope. It's all the same, except now I have school, too (which isn't even actually free like they advertise. It's about $1000/yr. It's not that much but when you're only making $30,000 a year, that's a chunk of change. Grueling physical labor all day. Bosses who are in the union too that still ask you to do unsafe shit, and to just “keep an eye out for the safety guy” Getting hassled for needing time off. Was legit told to “expect not to take a vacation for 5 years (length of apprenticeship)” Everybody loves being in the union but are all ass-backwards in love with the GOP despite their pretty blatant anti-union stance. Everybody is either racist and…
Not anti work, but screwing with norms and pulling one over on the man so maybe it fits. Would love to hear some thoughts. I have a much “bigger” resume than my wife does. I’m also really good at interviewing. She’s been at home with the kids for 4 years and isn’t hearing back except from entry level positions. she wants to start earning some money but we agree it isn’t worth it for $15-$20 an hour. She has primarily food industry experience before she was a housewife but she is sharp as a tack, learns quickly, and eventually masters whatever she is doing. I was thinking- What if I used my resume to get a remote work job making considerably more than she could with her resume, but she did most of the actual work? I’d want to keep my 9-5 as it’s a Cush one with a six…
Liquor over lives
I work at a major chain hotel in Ann Arbor Michigan and tons of our guests this time of year are uofm football super fans. The owners of the hotel rushed through a sale and in doing so lost their liquor license 2 days before the start of season (had the sale waited a month, they could’ve used the old owners license until first of the year), The new owners (fully aware of the issues I’m about to disclose) are spending thousands to get the city to rush through a temp liquor license but have yet to say they’re going to fix my hood vents in the kitchen that have been broken for over two months. Today I called the fire Marshall and Mi OSHA filing reports with both so it’s gonna be a race to see who shuts us down first lmao
