I know ethically 2 weeks notice is something someone should abide by, but what if you never signed a contract and it's an emergency (i.e needing to return to your country of origin)?
Sounds like a fun place to work at…
We all bash the billionaire class plenty heavily here, but I don't think anyone in r/antiwork is glad that Eliza Fletcher is dead, even if here family is the Orgill billionaire cabal.
So the other day my manager asked me to take out inside trash and do outside trash as well. I figured okay great I can put a earbud in since this doesn't require me to talk to customers. I came back to her to ask a quick question about gloves and she told me to take the earbud out after answering me. I did as I was told but I couldn't help but think of all the times I've seen her with an airpod in actively on a personal phone call, while customers are staring at her with a very confused expression. If it ever comes up again should I say something and if so how should I say it?
My job feels like a sham
On week 3 of a new job that I'm not sure how I feel about. It's a “warehousing” position, the pay is decent ($23/hr, max 20 hours a week) but it just doesn't feel right. The business is just one guy (I'm his first employee) who sells stuff on eBay, mainly sneakers and other shoes, but he buys stuff cheap online and sells it for way more to make a profit which I don't like (I'm no salesman, and I hate overcharging or ripping people off). The warehouse is tiny with stuff stacked probably way too high, and the guy I work for has problems with every little thing I do. Prepping shipments? Stack your packages to your left, not your right! Put your tape on this way, not that way, this is how you should be using the keyboard, etc. Just ridiculous stuff. Is it just me, or does…
I work at the computer all day. Looking at plates and typing numbers. It’s a m-f 40 hour week job. It’s okay but some things really annoy me. Like how we get a holiday off but still have to make up the time by working 10 hour shifts the rest of the week. Like what was the point of the day off if we STILL HAVE TO COME IN EARLY AND LEAVE LATE THE WHOLE WEEK. another thing is, sometimes they run out of work if not many cars are Going through tolls and they end up sending us home early sometimes. but then they’ll still pay us for the whole day. Like they send us home a lot but it’s very random. Some people work from home and I’ve been asking to get on the “waitlist” for it but I doubt there’s a waitlist and they just pick and…
