Paycheck woes
Advice request on a work issue. Any legal advice or bargaining advice would be welcomed. A month ago I was able to open a bank account with a national chain instead of my hometown's local credit union, and got it confirmed in writing from personnel at work that my direct deposit would be canceled and switched for my new bank account this past pay cycle. Only to discover that the worker who I talked to didn't submit the cancel request when they said, and submitted everything the day before payday. My check was written to a closed account instead of the standard first check for the new account. I called personnel to see if they could fix it before the end of the day, and they said they couldn't fix their mistake until next week. The guy I talked to implied it was my fault and said they'd have to…
After some advice regarding getting message sunday night telling me where im working monday. (I work construction) What is the cut off point for reasonable notice i usually get a text at 9:30 to 10pm i feel this is too late. Also whats the minimum notice an employer has to give you if they want you to work away from home and stay somewhere away from home overnight. Do they have to tell you a week in advance? Cheers
The BCGEU is asking its members to ratify a pay cut, and is ignoring member response to this “tentative agreement”. The union is blatantly and deliberately acting in opposition to the needs of their membership. 33,000 members are directly affected by the union's actions, and 80,000+ members are also impacted. This should be setting a standard for all workers in the province of BC, yet the BCGEU is attempting to undermine the very principles it was founded on. Membership is a mandatory condition of employment for all 33,000 members impacted. What options can legally be exercised against a union that is deliberately failing to represent its members?
