As the title says, I have been working with my employer for 3 years. We had a summer worker with us for a few months, he gets paid the same as me. Does anybody have any advice on how I should approach my supervisor about this? Any info will be greatly appreciated.
I work for a union-represented job and a lot of shit has been going down lately that people are super paranoid now at work. It stems from one manager who for some reason still has her job. I asked once if I could strike and the union rep said we are only allowed to strike when we're negotiating the contract, which isn't right now. It's almost impossible to get fired from this job, too, but the structure of the job is that managers are not union represented… I'm not sure what to do. I guess I just needed to get this out there but also if anyone has advice that would be great.
I don’t know how many of you have bereavement benefits and how that works for you. But I worked as an RN in a busy ER in the US the year my grandmother’s health started to take a turn for the worst. And unfortunately she was in the Philippines. My hospital said it could only award me bereavement benefits if she actually died during my trip there. Otherwise I would have to use my vacation benefits that I had been saving for my wedding & honeymoon a few months later (which had already been paid for and would also be in the Philippines). And if anyone has ever flown from the US to the Philippines – you know the flight is minimum 20 hours. And the flight price is usually so high that it’s not worth it just to go for a few days. And at that point I hadn’t…
Representation in Seattle.
Hello, My wife is being wrongfully dismissed due to taking leave from work after having sprained both ankles in an accident. She tried going to work in her crutches and was sent home immediately. Since then she has gotten better and showed up to work with an all clear from her Dr. A few days later she was called in and told she is under investigation and will be terminated by the end of the week, for misusing her LOA and sick time. She has presented all of the proof of her injuries in the form of Dr’s diagnosis and the x-rays but that doesn’t seem to matter because they just spend every day questioning her every minute detail and telling her that in situations like hers the person always gets fired. Mind that all of these meetings and questions are done in the presence of her Union rep who…
working seems so pointless
I've recently been looking for a new job because my last few only paid around $14 an hour and I couldn't even survive. Just looking through job listings now makes me so depressed I just wanna give up. Most jobs either pay very little, have ridiculous expectations, or are just scammers trying to get info. I have yet to find/work a job that doesn't make me wanna jump off a cliff everyday and they all pay less than a living wage I have no motivation to work or find I job, but I'm forced to. And I know whatever job I find next I won't be able to give my all because I'm just so over the work force in general. I'm tired of this. I want to feel like all my efforts actually mean something or at least will get me to the next stage in life, like buying…
A great take on “quiet quitting”
Some info, I work at a Warehouse in California. Company wide, Labor Day is an off day and paid holiday , however at today’s morning meeting management said in an act to combat call offs anyone who does so will not be paid for Labor Day. Can they do this? What if I’m genuinely sick or an emergency comes up? What are your thoughts on this?
